I’m shocked no one mentioned “Music For Boys”, released in 1981 from their 2nd album Credit In Heaven, before Mercury signed them. It is a KROQ Klassic and gay anthem for sure, possibly perceived as creepy in today’s woke climate:

Fit in perfectly with the New Wave & pop/rock on the radio at the time. I don’t think it charted, but given the ocean of great music it’s easy to see how it would get lost in the shuffle. New to me and loving the variety! Thank you Paul!!
I remember hearing this on one of my favourite UK radio shows in London back in the mid eighties. The DJ who played it was Gary Crowley. I still have the show on cassette somewhere.
Thanks Paul 🙂
You’re welcome, Marco 🙂
Thank You, love the more obscure New Wave 80s !
My pleasure, Low 🙂
Hey! thankyou.
Can I make a special request for “Clarence Clemons & Jackson Browne – You’re a Friend of Mine [1985]” Such a fantastic song. I only rediscovered it via this great upscaled video here..

I will see if I can locate a copy.
Pretty big hit in 1985. Browne’s girl at the time, Daryl Hannah, is in the music video. Mainstream rock #16; Hot 100 & Ireland #18; AC #21; Australia #9; top 10 both Netherlands charts.
Album version: 4:48; single edit 4:12
Yay! I was listening to this a few days ago and thinking how nice it would be to have an updated copy … Thank you for making it happen!
You bet, VanceMan 🙂
Excelente…!!
Thank you
Wooooowwww THANKS PAUL, this is hard to find, infinitely grateful, millions of memories come to my mind, thank you again, you have made my day wonderful.
T H A N K S !!!!!
You’re welcome, Rafael great to hear that 🙂
Thanks, don’t remember this one, reminds me of Psychedelic Furs, which is a good thing! Nice hot guitar solo!
They remind me of the Furs too 🙂
Definitely never heard of this band, but the connection to Lipps Inc is amazing; and the video is great! Thank you for introducing us to another obscure 80s band! Always appreciated!
You’re welcome, Martika 🙂
Wow, very different from the later John Squire song he wrote with the Seahorses that shares this title! This is super fun, thanks very much Paul!
You’re welcome, Tim 🙂
You thrill me to no end, Paul, with the tremendous records you post! When I hear records like this, I start to bug out! It’s like you rip off the top of my head and get down deep into my brain and massage all those special places that bring one to a heightened ecstasy (or should I say, climax?)! This record is such a pure example of new wave giddiness, with its scrumptious guitar and bass lines, herky-jerky rhythms, and the screaming horns on top! This is three shots of adrenalin aimed at the body, really working the dopamine levels!… Read more »
This is such a fun record. I love New wave bands that hail from the US they seem to add a special rock flair while our European counterparts add the synth. “Monster Man” is a very cool track in time for Spooky Season.
