The Pleasure Crew – So Good (UK 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1987

A. Front

“So Good” was the debut single by British group Pleasure Crew released on Factory records October 1987. The 12″ version was the groups only commercially released single.

Noel Taylor was the former vocalist and guitarist for Adventure. Adventure’s prophetic dance floor sound was designed for a wide audience, but they disbanded before the curtain went up. Noel then met Himat “Chester” Singh, a pent percussionist. Both had a common dislike of band compromise and a common love of song and dance. TcO, Manchester’s big and hot production, was brought in and the kettle was on.

Pleasure Crew teamed up with Mike Pickering (Hacienda DJ/Quando Quango) to fill the house. “So Good” is a disc designed for movement. It means what you like, but it’s a means to move.

This is one of those lost 12″ single’s that many have never heard of, but demands to be given new life. I hope you like it.

The Factory label always beens to have surprises in the catalog. Just when you think you’ve encountered it all, up comes something else. This feel like a poppier version of Quando Quango, one of my favorite Factory projects.

This was a new one for me Paul, but I must admit, the track seemed very familiar to me, like I’ve some how heard it before, but for the life of me, I don’t know where. A great track and I really enjoyed the “So Bad” version highly. I love these days when you give us records that are new to a lot of us. I so appreciate what you do.

A good example of the style of dance music Factory Records had moved toward by the late(r) eighties. Thanks!

Indeed, I’ve never heard of this, but am intruiged by a dance record from Manchester that *just about* pre-dates rave.

Good start to the week. 🙂 Thanks!

Well it’s not quite what I was expecting. 😀 It sounds very polished/commercial for a Factory release – I’m quite surprised it was on that label.

Also quite surprised it wasn’t a bigger hit, especially in that year, the UK charts were full of this kind of stuff.
