DISCO FRIDAY!
“I, I, I” backed with “You’re Mine” was a disco single released in March 1979 by The Osmonds. The disco influenced track was only released in the US as a promo 12″ single taken from the album Steppin’ Out. Maurice Gibb of the Bee Gees produced the single but did not sing or play on the the tracks. Following the lack of success of this album and its single, the Osmonds switched to country music.

Along with Crazy Horses, this has always been my favourite Osmonds track, but the cost of the original 12 inch has always been a little beyond my price range – so it is wonderful to finally hear it in high quality lossless audio – just the perfect disco-rock-pop blend. There were actually two or three unofficial re-edits of this track a few years ago, I remember there was a Quiet Village edit and I am pretty sure Todd Terje also did a re-edit – though to be honest, when a track is this good, there is no need to process… Read more »
Thanks for showcasing these singles from the Osmond’s only disco-era 1979 album! Made me revisit “Steppin’ Out” once more (over and over). The album was one of those post disco albums (among Bee Gees’ “Spirits (Having Flown}” and Abba’s “Voulez Vous” in my teen collection! Bought and loved this album due to (1) Bee Gees or Maurice Gibb produced project and (2) the last inclusive track “Rest Your Love (On Me)” (Bee Gees country track) which was previously and numerously done by Olivia Newton-john, Andy Gibb and Gibbs brothers! Cheers!
You’re welcome Denny. I have always had a soft spot for this music. If I remember Donny was not on this album at least he is not pictured on the sleeve any way. That may be why it wasn’t as popular as their previous releases. I also really liked “Disco Train”. “Rest Your Love On Me” is one of my favorite Olivia tracks as well.
Funky Disco Stuff!
Never knew of its existence till now.
Thanks for a 70s Disco 101 in 2013!!!
TGIF and TPIF!!!
you’rew elcome Ric I was wondering when I was ripping this rare single if anyone would even know about it. I guess the lack of comments answers my question 🙂 Still I love both tracks and am happy I posted it 🙂 Have a great weekend my friend.
