The Kinks – Father Christmas (UK 7″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1977

A. Front

“Father Christmas” is a 1977 single by English group The Kinks.

It tells of a department store Father Christmas who is beaten up by a gang of poor kids who tell him to give them money instead of toys, as toys are impractical; and asks that the toys be given “to the little rich boys.” At one point, a child asks the narrator to give his/her father a job for Christmas. The song failed to have any chart success in the UK or US.

We were just talking about this Christmas record just the other day. It’s so cool that you did a rip too of this Paul; it’s like your psychically attuned to our thoughts. I appreciate the holiday postings as they only come once a year.

Many thanks!

Jeff

I remember 1977 very well, don’t recall hearing this, that aside it’s a refreshing change from some of the Xmas releases. Available on the 1978 album “Misfits” that is the 1998 bonus edition.

I like it.

Thanks as always fro the rip, Paul 🙂

Don’t know this one, I think. Nice to see some Christmas posts lately. Thanks!
