The Cure – Pictures Of You (Limited Edition) (UK 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1990

A. Front

“Pictures of You” is the fourth and final single from the British rock band The Cure’s 1989 album Disintegration. The single dubuted on the UK singles chart on March 31, 1990 and peaked at #24. In the US the single debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 on April 21, 1990 peaking at #7 the single also charted on the US Dance and Modern Rock tracks charts respectively.

Many of lead singer Robert Smith’s compositions are inspired by literature. “Pictures Of You” was based on an essay by Myra Poleo called The Dark Power of Ritual Pictures. Smith says that after reading it, he destroyed his old personal photos and many of his home videos in an effort to wipe away his past. He came to regret the decision a few days later.

Rolling Stone magazine placed “Pictures Of You” 278th on their 2004 list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

**The live tracks on the b-side are one continuous track totaling 10:05 on subsequent CD single versions the songs are split into two seperate tracks. I have left them as they were presented on the vinyl release.

Thanks Paul… kinda got lost with the Cure when they started remixing themselves to death, but at the heart of it all there’s still some great songs.

So odd they didn’t put this extended remix on the CD Single, it’s not like there wasn’t room.

Incredible post Paul. Of all the genres you post, alternative is definitely my favorite. I just love The Cure so much and this is a wonderful addition to everyone’s collection. You ALWAYS come to the rescue Paul. Never forget how much you mean to all of us. You’re a beautiful person.

thanks paul for adding this so quickly.

although i like the ‘strange remix’ (called ‘extended dub mix’ on the “mixed up” album), i always prefered the more authentic mix on this 12″. it’s awkward that this mix never appeared on CD but you rip makes such a release obsolete.

thanks again for ripping it so quickly!

Some few days that I didn’t enter this comfortable music lounge, and there they are: a lot of pleasant surprises. Thanks Paul,

Love this song and I’ve never heard the full extended 12” mix before. Thanks so much

The two live tracks are from the gig that was released as the “Entreat” live album and then again as the full gig on the Disintegration 3CD deluxe edition 4 years ago

I was disappointed with the fact that the CDS had the live tracks separated, but that’s how they are. I took the tracks and United them just as you did with the 12er!
