Ooops, I’m late to the par-tee (again)! This happens to me alot. I was just never interested in the tracks at the time they were available. Now I’m interested, and the tracks are n/a
I’ll just have to remain patient and watchful.
OTOH, I can’t get over this pristine and immaculate archive you’ve created. BTG is really a wondrous vault of music and memories. Thanks for that!

I love the horns and the guitars venturing around.

There is that one little section where it seems like a few random flurries of synth hits get triggered, but very easy to mix around.

Sound is nice too. Your vinyl always sounds nice.

Cool version, which I had not heard before, thanks Paul!

I’ve always enjoyed this version for the unusual horn-section-like keyboard line that they play over the song’s riff; this is the only version of the song that features that, I think, so it makes for a fantastic variation on it, IMHO.

I can never hear this song without thinking of the movie Real Genius. 🙂

Not quite sure what to make of this mix, to be honest. Most of it’s good, but that bit in the middle where they overlay the rapid-fire drums on top of the beat just sounds wrong, like they accidentally overdubbed a completely different track on top of it…

Agree, those overdubbed drums were typical of remixes from the era. Jury’s also out on the horn sections imo, didn’t TFF employ the horns on the (…)”Run The World” reissue single two years later?

JFT, you are so correct. I always thought Urban Mix was a bit misleading. I remember when I first bought this back in ’85, thinking it was going to more of an “urban” feel over the original. But no. It’s basically an elongated version of the original, but nonetheless a real gem and a truly beautifully sounding piece of music. The instrumental really hits that point out of the park.

The Instrumental Mix is a gem! I have the 2006′ double disc Deluxe Edition of “Songs From The Big Chair” with three different versions of EWTRTW but it do not have the instrumental mix. Thanks a lot!

Sometimes hits suck. Other times the public gets it right. This, is one of those times.
