Hey guys,
Spooky Season is upon us, and many of us have certain songs that make us think of Halloween whether it is something mainstream or that creepy obscure track. For me, it is “Heart” by Pet Shop Boys because of the music video with its Vampire theme or “Something In My House” by Dead Or Alive which is just well…haunting. So I wonder what 80s or 90s songs make you think of Spooky Season? let us know in the comments below. See you tomorrow with a new record.

Dead Man’s Party – Oingo Boingo. BEST non-AI song ever performed.Ghost – Dance Macabre
45 Graves – Party Time (Return of the Living Dead OST version)
Lady Gaga – Bloody Mary (As not seen on Wednesday)

Liked a couple of Kate Bush suggestions from upstream commenters.
Number of “Clan of Xymox” could fit the mood quite well… After the Call, Back Door, Louise, Masquerade, No Words, Strangers (and more).
The Hooters – All you Zombies (Sandra does a decent cover too).
Question took me by surprise, probable a hundred or more songs would fit… but my tastes tend to run to the rarer side that most here.

Love the poll! Aside from the obligatory Thriller and Ghostbusters, here’s my list:
J. Geils Band – Fright Night
Paul McCartney & Michael Jackson – Say Say Say (was #1 in Oct ’83
and the video features masks/
costumes)
Huey Lewis & The News – Doing It All For My Baby (love the Bride Of
Frankenstein video!)
Pat Benatar – We Belong (was a big hit in Oct ’84)
John Carpenter – Halloween Theme
Steve Miller Band – Abracadabra
Type-O-Negative – Black no.1
For me it’s ‘Amityville The House On The Hill)’ by Lovebug Starski. For one, it’s a classic 80’s track, and two, it mentions everything from Dracula, through to The Addams Family (cousin It in particular).
Echo & The Bunnymen covering People Are Strange
Whodini – Freaks Come Out at Night
Concrete Blonde – Bloodletting
Book of Love – Witchcraft
The Specials – Ghost Town
Sinead O’Connor – I Am Stretched On Your Grave
Yvonne Gage – Doin’ It In a Haunted House
Paul Weller – Wild Wood (Sheared Wood Remix by Portishead)
We don’t really do Halloween here, but it’s slowly creeping in. Guy Fawkes is our traditional celebration this time of year. That doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the music. The music I think is appropriate for Halloween may not be traditional, but here’s a quick list I threw together…
Thomas Dolby “The Devil Is An Englishman”*
Bobby Pickett “Monster Mash”
Blue Oyster Cult “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper”
Michael Jackson “Thriller”
Warren Zevon “Werewolves Of London”
CCR “Bad Moon Rising”
And, of course, burning the ground…
Duran Duran “Hungry Like the Wolf”*

Paul,
The Omen & the remixes:
Mysterious Art – The Omen (1989, Vinyl) – Discogs
It’s very little known and was never a single (that I know of), but Trickster’s “Bump in the Night” is my favorite spooky tune. The song has two different endings depending on whether it was the US LP or the Japanese CD. I prefer the LP version (the YouTube link is the CD version, sadly):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nGOseWKc-Q&t=964s
Alien Sex Fiend – Dead and Re-Buried
I put a Spell on you (Bette Midler Version) from the Movie “Hocus Pocus”
Sorry for my multiple posts. I post and log out, then think of more.
“Hammer Horror” + “Experiment IV”, both by Kate Bush.
“Don’t Go” Yazoo/Yaz
“Experiment IV” is a brilliant suggestion, Gordon! Very sinister.. and a brilliant song – especially the 12″ version feat. Nigel Kennedy
A few more…
“The Visitors” ABBA.
“Self Control” Laura Branigan
“Listen” Eurogliders
The two obvious ones still missing in the previous comments:
“Thriller” and “Ghostbusters”.
But to mention two more obscure ones:
Blue Öyster Cult – “Astronomy” & Stan Ridgway – “Camouflage”.
Propaganda – Dr. Mabuse
