Burning The Ground Exclusive 1983
“Gold” is a 1983 single by English new wave band Spandau Ballet, taken from their third album True.
The song is Spandau Ballet’s second-highest charting single in both the United Kingdom and the United States, behind their previous release, “True”, reaching #2 on the UK Singles Chart (KC and the Sunshine Band’s “Give It Up” held it off the top of that chart), and reaching #29 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.
As a bonus, I have added the “Instrumental” which I transferred from the US 12″ single.
SIDE A:
Gold (Extended Version) 7:12
SIDE B:

if there was ever a song where they should ban anything other than the full extended version itd be this. Great post thanks.
A personal favorite of mine and Karen’s, the twelve inch version is just so classy. Thank you for putting your stamp of exquisite sound on this rip. Wonderfully stellar!!!
Jeff
Thank you, Paul.
Excellent theme, great group, one of the classics that I hope will be in one of the next festivals. Thanks Paul.
You’re welcome 🙂
One of my favourite singles too. It would be cool to see more Spandau including the earlier single Chant No 1.
Cheers Paul 🙂
I will see what I can do Mark 🙂
hi paul, i love this song and remix, from spandau ballet, its my favorite song from them, and i think i actually heard it on the radio. i never liked true, and unfortunately that song got all the attention. this is a classic new wave 80s track that everyone should get and listen to, smooth, energetic, and powerful. i know the band gets compared to duran duran a lot, and its true they had a similar background and style, but they paved their own way. i wasn’t into spandau back then. but after getting some remix compilations i really enjoyed… Read more »
I remember when Spandau and Duran were sort of rivals back in the 80s Duran Duran ultimately garnered most of the chart success in the UK and US. I always had a sweet spot for Spandau even though Duran Duran were my favorites 🙂
Love it – thank you Paul!
You’re welcome 🙂
Thanks Paul. Please post more Spandau.
You’re welcome, Omar 🙂
