Space Monkey – Come With Me (US 12″)

Burning The Ground Exclusive 1985

“Come With Me” is a 1985 single by British pop group Space Monkey, led by the singer–songwriter guitarist Paul Goodchild. The song was released as the second single from the LP “On the Beam”. Space Monkey was not a “group” per se; Goodchild was the only person to appear on every one of On the Beam’s tracks. Various session musicians were used, including Wham’s backup band and members of Bow Wow Wow. Also contributing was keyboard player Adrian Lee, who would later join Mike + the Mechanics.

Wow Paul! Just discovered your post. What a big surprise to see a Saturday post. I love this single and the Luongo mixes are brilliant. These obscure 80s posts are always welcome. Thank you so much Paul. You are still and will always be my hero 🙂

You are spoiling us with these John Luongo mixes recently. Very much appreciated of course.

Thanks again, Paul 🙂

Thanks for so much for this one. There were rumors a few years ago that this LP would make it CD, but I don’t think it ever happened. (And honestly, I suspect your rip probably sounds better than most of the tapes would have been.)

In fact, there is a Spanish bootleg floating out there. But it’s the LP
rip with two bonus tracks. Some years ago an attempt was made to launch a fundraising campaign to be able to remaster the album with demos and special versions in a 3 cd box set. But the goal was not reached and the project was scrapped. Two years later Paul Goodchild passed away. His daughter currently owns the rights to his music. Regards.

Thank you very much for sharing this single Paul. Hopefully you can upload at some other time the remaining 2 singles that were released from his only album. You have brightened up my Saturday afternoon with good music. Have a great weekend!!!

This shocked me, Paul!! It’s a rarity to get a Saturday post from you, but this is a marvelous occasion to get something really good! I am familiar with this artist because of Razormaid! productions, but I’ve never heard this original twelve inch. Thank you for these John Luongo mixes. He really is one of the best remixers we have come to know. I love that you celebrate his body of work on your site!!

Have a great weekend Paul and thank you so very much for a very cool record!!!
