Silent Running opened for Simple Minds in Ireland on the Sparkle in the Rain tour, so that may be where some of that influence came from. The second and third albums found them adapting to a more American AOR style rock, dropping the Simple Minds-like vibe.

Between the first and second album, they had a FANTASTIC non-LP single called No Faith Is Blind, which ventured more into U2 territory but had the most pop hook of their career. The 12″ mixes aren’t as good as the single mix, but either way, it’s definitely worth hunting down.

I am a little in shock. This cover sums up the Dutch summer of 2017. One big militairy excercise, for months now, even overdesignated Silent Areas. From early spring on, during summer, still going on, in breeding season too, day and night. Hi Paul, Thanks for this. Fantastic Underrated band. Finding all of their CD’s are out of print and expensive for used copies I would appreciate any more remixes in the future. Keep up the great work.
Thanks Again,
Matt

Totally agreed with Daniel, it reminds me Simple Minds. Thanks Paul once again for showing me another band that I did not know. (Y)

Wow Paul! This is another discovery find for me. I never heard of this band. This song makes me think of “Someone somewhere in Summertime” from the Simple Minds which belongs to my favourites. Just listened to another single by them “Young hearts” which sounds also great. Thank you so much for introducing me to “Silent Running”.
