REQUEST

“Break My Heart (You Really)”, also known as “Break My Heart”, is a song by British pop act Shakespears Sister, released in 1988 as the lead single from their debut album Sacred Heart. “Break My Heart (You Really)” was released in most territories as a Double A-side with “Heroine”, which according to Siobhan Fahey was to “give a more rounded picture of what I’m about”. In North American territories however, both songs were released as separate A-side singles. The single failed to have any chart success.

Always liked this song. Missed buying it when it came out, a fellow dj had a copy and I put it on a cassette for car trips. It was the Shep Mix I am sure [ do not know, still have the cassette but no info, but it sound like his work ] and it is a great mix, a bit slower and much funkier. Worth getting if you get a chance. Do like hearing these mixes, they are new to me. I thought it had a Lene Lovich feel to it , think it came out about the same… Read more »

Paul, yes, I like this record very much. And that flip-side is marvelous too. Mr. Orbit did a phenomenal mix in his own unique style. I really love these introductions to songs I have missed. You have steered me to so many fantastic songs AND MIXES, that I can hardly contain myself from all the excitement. Always a new surprise with you, and the fidelity of yours is FIERCE PAUL!! Gosh, if my ears were two mouths, they’d be drooling all over the place. You rock my world DjPaulT!! And, by the other glowing reviews on your site, I can… Read more »

Not often I get to be the first to comment on one of your posts, so I take this an an honour and thank you for posting Shakespear’s Sister. Do you have any more planned? I only became aware of this single last year when I saw a 7″ of it at a record fair. I’m interested to note the Revolution Remix of “Run Silent (Run Deep)”, which also appears on the 12″ single of that title. Also the catalogue number is VERY interesting, ask me if you want to know why….

The reason for my interest in the catalogue number is that it appears to be out of sequence. Hope this doesn’t bore you…. The London/ffrr numbering began with “820” numbers when the new PolyGram system started in 1983. When PolyGram decided to use separate catalogue numbering systems for albums and singles, the London singles started with “882” (Bronski Beat “Why” = 882 014-7). It took about four years to use the 1,000 numbers in that block, and the “886” series began in 1986 (Fine Young Cannibals’ “Blue” is 886 005-7). Another four years saw this series exhausted and the next… Read more »

Cool! You´re a nerd 🙂 I love it. There was a time when it was important to me to know the running time of all my > 1,000 12inch a-sides. The average running time was
7´12 if I remember correctly 🙂 🙂
