“In the Heat of the Night” is a single by German singer Sandra. The song was released in November 1985 as the second single from the album The Long Play, where it charted at #1 in Switzerland and Israel, #2 in Germany, and #8 in South Africa (in mid-1986).
The track features backing vocals by Hubert Kemmler of Hubert Kah and Michael Cretu. “Heatwave” is an instrumental version of “In The Heat Of The Night”.

There is a collection of her 12″ curated by Blank & Jones
in 3cd with all the instrumental versions
but I don’t know how the audio-quality is.
I’ll always prefer Your audio-quality though.

I am 99% sure that a few B-sides are ripped from vinyl, although Blank & Jones say that they used masters only for this (excellent) compilation. Heatwave is unfortunately one of them…
Great track….had it on in my car today 🙂 The UK 12″ of this release actually has a unique extended version that differs from the version released around the rest of Europe.It appears alongside Heatwave on the amazing Blank & Jones 2cd set.
I wonder if the UK version is the same as the Japanese version?
Paul, no, it’s a different then the Japanese 4:11 mix BUT the Japanese version is an edit of the UK mix. You can hear the same alternative keyboard arrangements near the end of both versions.

BTW:
There’s another mix – early rush mix with less overdubs, different mix and the end chorus w/o the lead vocals NOT fade out!

Paul, wonderful job! Yes, it is truth that Blank&Jones cleaned this vinyl too but your rip is much better and lasts longer as well. They faded Heatwave too early, probably because of record noise. Thank you for your clean version!

Sandra was one of my very favorite in the mid-eighties. She was very popular and successful here in Europe. She had several number one hits. This was her second number one single. Her husband Michael Cretu was her producer and songwriter. To my knowledge the instrumental version did never appear on CD. Thanks Paul.
