Thanks, Paul!
Thanks a ton for this!
It’s strange how little I’ve heard this song … yet it’s been stuck in my head for 40 years! 🤣 It seems to be one of those songs everyone knows — but I never hear it on classic radio, retro night, etc. Thanks for the thrills.
Ray is quite an amazing artist, musician, songwriter, and performer. Ray Parker Jr. & Raydio’s first top ten US hit was “Jack & Jill” (Hot 100 #8; R&B #5; AUS & NZ #4; UK #11) as well as “You Can’t Change That” (US #9, R&B #3, AC #25) and “A Woman Needs Love (Like You Do)”, US #4, R&B #1, AC #11). The last major hit as Raydio was 1981’s “That Old Song”, AC #7. The multi-talented band Raydio also included the late Jerry Knight (“Overnight Sensation”; R&B #17, Dance #18) who also later became half of Ollie & Jerry… Read more »
I forgot all about this banger. Thanks Paul.
PERFECT!!! THANK YOU PAUL!!!!!
This is completely unknown to me as is the fact that RPJ has nineteen singles to his name beside Ghostbusters which was his only single ever to chart in Germany (#4). The Other Woman has such a great groove – I love it. I´m looking forward to getting to know many more RPJ tracks on the BTG site 🙂 .
RPJ is one of those artists that had such a massive hut (Ghostbusters) that his other work really got over looked. I will try to post more of him in the future.
Maybe more Ray & Raydio stuff in the future? I really-really hope so.Thanks for this!
I will see what I can do , Peter Parker 🙂
Love this funk classic, especially this 12″ version with the harder beat. Like Jeff said, Ray Parker Jr. is a lot more than Ghostbusters. In terms of this infectious funk rock, he beat Michael Jackson to the punch and it sounds like he may have inspired Kool & The Gang with Misled. Thank you Paul!!
You’re welcome, Retro Hound. I ditto everything you said, my friend 🙂
Such a great song! Thanks for sharing this version.
You’re welcome, VanceMan. Good to see your name pop up by the way 🙂
Thanks for this classic, yet not-often-played-back-then hit! I have the The Other Woman (Expanded) cd and your rips are much crisper and brighter which is quite welcoming! Also, for you fans out there, take a good listen to the lyrics on this song. 🙂 1982. Imagine trying to release a track with lyrics like this nowadays?! Sheeeez, Ray would be burned alive (online at least) 🙂 Thanks, Paul!!
Thank you, Fred I really love getting feedback on my transfers as compared to their CD or digital counterparts. I had no idea his album had been expanded. I agree that if released today this track would not stand a chance due to its lyrical content. Enjoy 🙂
I was just listening to this on a stream Casey Kasem’s American Top 40 yesterday! And wondering what inspired it! AND if there was ever an extended or long version of it! And here it is!
Thank you Paul!
You’re welcome, Modernaire I am happy our minds were synced 🙂
This is so HOT, Paul!! I was really into Ray Parker Jr. and his band Raydio while I was growing up! He is so much more than “Ghostbusters,” although he could live on the royalties from that single alone for the rest of his life (and maybe that’s why we don’t hear any new music from him. Can’t say I’d really blame him whatsoever!). “The Other Woman” is a delicious slab of Funk that really makes one groove on the dancefloor. The rhythm is so infectious that it always gives a feel-good vibe whenever it’s played. And for some reason,… Read more »
You’re welcome, Jeff. I love the breakdown in the middle with the added synths very cool 🙂
Thanks Paul!!
You’re welcome, Mike Brady 🙂
Thanks!
You’re welcome, John 🙂
What a good one! I had completely forgotten about this song, so thank you for sharing.
You’re welcome, Dean 🙂
