Ramones – I Wanna Be Sedated (US 12″ Promo)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1988

“I Wanna Be Sedated” is a song by the American punk rock band the Ramones. It is one of the band’s best known songs. It was originally released on their fourth album, Road to Ruin, in September 1978 and was the B-side of the UK single “She’s the One” released on September 21, 1978. The song was later released as a single in the Netherlands in 1979, then in the U.S. in 1980 by RSO Records from the Times Square soundtrack album.

In 1988 the song was remixed and released as a single in the U.S. to promote the band’s compilation album Ramones Mania (The Best Of 1976-1988). A music video was also filmed in September 1988 and received heavy rotation on MTV.

The A-Side of this 12″ is exclusive to this release.

This was recently released on the original parent album super deluxe version package CD & LP. The 7” had the megamix on the B-side, but was deleted way too soon. Until now, an elusive track to be sure!

This song has piqued my interest. I keep thinking it was used in the original Vacation film (1983) but not included on the soundtrack release. Now I’ll have to dig up that film and watch it again to be sure.
Don’t know much about Ramones, but if PaulT has uploaded ‘Sedated,’ how can we go wrong in listening? Amiright?

Blitzkrieg Bop was on the original Vacation OST. As a young kid it was one of my first known exposures to the Ramones and I’ve been a fan ever since!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS! I heard this nearly 25 years ago just once on 105.7 The Point in St. Louis. I’ve searched for a physical copy of this for YEARS. People in record stores always thought I was nuts when I was trying to describe it to them. This is a much better rip than what I snagged off of youtube. Thank you!!

Wow, Paul! I never even heard of this 12″ or mixes! The Side B mix is pretty nice, especially the opening acappella.

Thanks for stunning me with a great song that I never knew was remixed. 🙂

You really scare me sometimes Paul, and in a good way. I was just thinking about this mix and always wanted it. I was going to try and find it on Amazon, but the digital downloads aren’t as good as your rips. If it is on compact disc, I will definitely still buy it. It’s always important to me to always support the artists I love. In the meantime, I am so excited for this. THANK you tons Paul once again!!!!

Can’t control my fingers and toes,

Jeff

Ahhhh… thanks so much for this one – it’s how I feel today! Unemployed for 7 months now, for the first time in my life – rough. But, blogs like yours, and songs like this, help lift my spirits. Thank you!
