Burning The Ground Exclusive 1984
“No More Lonely Nights” is a song written and performed by Paul McCartney, first released on 24 September 1984, on Give My Regards to Broad Street.
The song features David Gilmour from Pink Floyd on guitars including the soaring solos and fills throughout the song. Reflecting upon the recording in a radio interview before 1990’s Knebworth concerts, Gilmour told Jim Ladd that “No More Lonely Nights” was the last thing McCartney recorded for the film (late 1983/early 1984), and that he told McCartney to give his session fee to a charity of his choice.
“No More Lonely Nights” reached number 6 in the US and number 2 in the UK.
“Silly Love Songs” is a re-recording of the soundtrack to the motion picture Give My Regards to Broad Street. The original version was released in 1976 by Paul McCartney and Wings.

Thank you for this one – i don’t think I’ve ever heard the extended version before – just the remix. This was one of my favorite McCartney songs when it came out – I knew nothing about the Beatles other than Twist & Shout, and his prior 80s hits. Same as Lennon – I loved Woman, Watching The Wheels and Just Like Starting Over as a kid, and didn’t become a Beatles fan until like 1990 or so. The Silly Love Songs isn’t a patch on the original, but it’s a better cover than some of the Beatles ones on… Read more »
I once was in an elevator in the Sirius XM building in NYC when Sir Paul McCartney suddenly appeared with his small entourage. Everyone was probably a bit starstruck to say the least. He then got off the elevator and quickly disappeared. I should have said something but never did. In the end that was most likely a good thing. He is such a legend.
Wow, I like this so much more than the original version haha!
Wow! I have never heard these mixes and they are fantastic! Thanks so much Paul!
You’re welcome, Mikey D.
Oh man, so stoked to see this pop up. I love all the songs here, and I have that original album, but not this 12″ – THANK YOU Paul!
You’re welcome, Grant 🙂
My Maternal Grandmother of all people loved “Give My Regards” film and “No More Lonely Nights” song.
Thing is she had no idea who the Beatles were – no kidding seriously.
Thanks Man!
Great story love it 🙂
This & “Walk On The Wilde Side” are 2 songs I’ve always regretted that fade waaaaay too soon. This guitar solo & that sax solo should both play on for a few minutes more–at least!
Wild…not Wilde.
Thanks for the cool post, Paul! It is clearly different from the other 12″ post you did awhile back. For those of you who love Silly Love Songs as much as me, this is a fantastic remix done by a retired deejay in 2016. He made literally hundreds of “gently remixed” remixes (I have 500 of them) before he passed away last year from cancer at 58. https://we.tl/t-EUfklSXAWN Enjoy all and have a great day!!
Hi Paul. It seems you or the system edited my URL above (it’s case sensitive) and thus it’s a dead link above. The correct link again is: https://we.tl/t-EUfklSxAWN Thanks!!

Ok, thanks! I appreciate the heads up!
Paul McCartney will forever be my favorite Beatle! The song writing and the voice, captures me every time! Thanks for this record, Paul.
I love these Pop record extensions, mixes and remixes. You’re the first person I know who earnestly and faithfully brings back these songs to our ears. You are above the curve. A true leader and not a follower. You are so cherished in my opinion!!
Jeff
You are lovely, Jeff thank you.
This is one of my favourite Paul McCartney singles and now i can finally hear the Extended Version with your superior vinyl transfer knowledge.
I noticed Silly Love Songs on the other side, which is also a firm favourite too.
Thanks Paul 🙂
You’re welcome, Marco 🙂
I loved this song from the moment it came out!! In the Fall of ’84 the video was in constant rotation on MTV and was a much bigger hit than the movie… Probably the best thing to come out of the project. The Extended Version isn’t the Dance Mix by Arthur Baker. Do you know who did the remix, was it George Martin? And Silly Love Songs is an edit of the album version. So excited for this. Thank you Paul!!
Howdy! Nah, the Silly Love Songs on this 12″ is a re-recording for the movie. I think it’s a terrible rendition.
I think it is pretty fun.
Hi Fred! I actually meant the Silly Love Songs on this single is an edit of the album version on Give My Regards To Broad Street – they were all re-recordings except for the 3 new songs. But thanks for checking in!
The single doesn’t give any remix credit. I love the “Silly Love Songs” mix I also prefer this extended version over the Arthur Baker mix I posted a few years back.
Looking forward to comparing this extended version to Arthur Baker’s dance mix. Gotta love the Silly Love Songs choreographed scene from the movie!
wow! it has always occurred to me what an epic talent this man has, but when Egypt Station came out, it really struck me. He is STILL creating quality, original music. He is unstoppable! Thanks!
You’re welcome, Raymond. Sir Paul is a treasure.
