Nu Shooz – I Can’t Wait (US 7″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1985

A. Front

“I Can’t Wait” is a song recorded by American group Nu Shooz. The song was originally recorded in late 1984 at Cascade Recording studio, Portland, Oregon and released on Poolside records in 1985. This version failed to have any chart success. In 1986 the song was remixed and included on the groups second album “Poolside” becoming a worldwide hit peaking at #3 in the US, #2 in the UK and #1 in Canada.

The b-side “Don’t Turn Back” was recorded January 1984 at Fresh Tracks Studio, Portland, Oregon.

This US 7″ includes the original 1984 version before the song became an international hit.

The classic single from 1986! And it’s all thanks to a Dutch remix that brought it the belated success in the USA! Love the Madonna and Nuance samples in the remixed version. Keen to hear the original before the Slaghuis touch. Thanks for another rare share, Paul!

Ah, this seems to be an edit of the Vocal/American Mix from the 12″, which is my favorite version. The “Dutch Mix” or what I think everyone knows as the more popular version seems a little over-produced to me. I prefer the more laid back tempo and groove of this earlier version. Thanks again Paul!!

I like this one very much Paul. Thank you.

I have a different question though:

I’m in the process of converting all my music to lossless now and therefore wanted to reload AC/DC. The FLAC link however sends me to a website that asks me to install iLivid download manager? After searching internet that appears to be malware. Next to this I noticed this happening at many more old links. Can you please advise? The current links all work great.

Thanks,

Wim

Wow, it’s been so long since I’ve heard “I Can’t Wait”! I love the vocals on this song, just something about Valerie Day’s voice that brings back the 80s feel for me. There are days when I wish I could travel back in time and relive that decade. But I guess this is the next best thing. It’s such a trip being on this website, thanks so much for everything Paul!

i like this version. My copy is a 3:38 version that sounds like the 12” on Atlantic Recs. and the B side is “Make Your Mind Up” (Atlantic ‎– 7 89446-7)

this single version is much better. thanks

In the Peter Slaghuis remix it os one of my all time favorites. I know this one, not bad but a little bland compared whit the remix. But thanks for sharing anyway!
