BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1983
“I Won’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” is a song written and performed by the English singer-songwriter Nik Kershaw. It was his first single, released in 1983 to little success, but was re-released in 1984 and became his highest-charting hit, peaking at no. 2 in the UK. The song was included on Kershaw’s debut album Human Racing.
“I Won’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” first charted in November 1983, though despite spending 8 weeks in the UK Top 100, only reached number 47.
Released on September 16, 1983, this 12″ includes the rare first release of the song remixed by Mickey Modern and Phil Harding.

Hello, Paul !
Could you please re-upload this release? Thank you in advance!
Muchas gracias por este aporte Paúl, un saludo desde Chile
Thank you very much, this is amazing!
I love Nik Kershaw.
I also have this rare original first pressing.
I few years ago Nik signed my copy for me after a show.
We need more Nik kershaw!!!!
Yes, we does…!!!
Nice post, Paul. I hadn’t heard THIS mix, only the “Extended Mix” which clocks in at 6:25, and is different. I love finding these things out after all these years. THANK YOU!
Thanks for posting the original version of this! The B-side Dark Glasses is quite good as well, and became a minor hit when covered by Edwina Laurie + there was a Razormaid remix of it as well!
Thank You so much for this! Good luck today at the Drs!
any chance of redoing two from You past posts Act Of War Elton and Millie Jackson and Wah! Story of the Blues! Appreciate everything You do. My best
Thank you very much for this one Paul. Should we expect the two 12”s of Dancing Girls to follow and others of Nik? Have a happy weekend and hope you’re well and healthy.
Maybe at some point I will post them 🙂
Looking forward. Thanks Paul,
Thank you for this great 12 Inch, Paul! Really appreciate your high quality rips. Funny to see that there is no “on me” on the cover.
Interesting that they left that part off but it is on the record label 🙂
Hi Paul, you passed this tremendous song by Nick, I will dance it this afternoon, greetings and be well
Thank you 🙂
Thanks Paul, I didn’t realise there’d been a prior release to the hit version, or (as I’ve just read on Wikipedia) Pete Waterman falsely claimed to have a finger in it.
You’re welcome, Jermajesty 🙂
NO! I don´t believe it! Paul, you post this very rare record on the very day I received my copy from England! What are the odds? I´m shaking all over. I have the blue sleeve, though, but it is the original extended mix, too. See here: https://www.discogs.com/Nik-Kershaw-I-Wont-Let-The-Sun-Go-Down/release/1135702 So it is a happy day in two ways – I finally have one of the two records and have been searching for for so long, and then you post it in the best quality. Thank you very much, my friend. PS: I hope you are fine after your doctor´s appointments. Send you… Read more »
I always wanted the blue sleeve because I prefer it so you are lucky my friend. Enjoy! 🙂
