Thanks Paul. I didn’t have this one.
Yes Ric,
Cool It Now and Mr Telephone Man were great songs, thank you for reminding me of them. And thank you Dj Paul for making such a choice selection and pulling New Edition’s Popcorn Love to share today. 🙂
Shoot, Maxthon 3’s last update destroyed my post, refreshed every tab in the browser, after the update was complete and finished, (I didn’t try to comment in the middle of the update). I was/am a big fan of New Edition, especially this early album, Candy Girl wasn’t the only song to like on it. I got to see Bobby Brown’s Don’t Be Cruel tour in 1988 or 1989, the one where he sang My Prerogative, I just wish I could remember who he toured with, they were really good too. They say that album helped invent or pave the way… Read more »
Not sure I know this. I do remember seeing the 12 Inch cover in the shops though, so after so many years, I’m going to give it a listen.
Thanks Paul.
Gracias Paul, por este grandioso post, sugiero tambien Mr.Telephone Man, Cool It Now y Candy Girl.
Usted es bienvenido Carlos. Voy a ver qué puedo hacer por usted. 🙂
Great post, Paul!
Thank you!
Back in 1983, US gave us New Edition while UK had Musical Youths. Talented kids but unfortunately not paid their dues. At least New Edition managed to have a great career after breaking free.
I’m still baffled that Candy Girl didn’t even crack the US Top 40 when it went all the way to #1 in the UK.
Hit or not, I love what Arthur Baker did with their two singles.
Wouldn’t complain too if you will feature more New Edition in the future, especially Cool It Now and Mr Telephone Man.
Thank you for appreciating this Ric. I always assumed that “Candy Girl” was a gig Top 40 hit in the US because it got radio play back then. I know I have “Cool It Now” in my collection don’t remember if I have “Mr. Telephone Man” both fun songs 🙂
I appreciate this and all you’ve done here, Paul! 😀
Yes, Cool It Now is great with those M+M remixes, as for Mr Telephone Man featuring Ray Parker Jr, the 12″ is hard to find.
Gosh..
A 70s Jackson like track out of place in the 80s..
(But not that bad)
LOL
I really like this track great production by Arthur Baker. Hopefully others will appreciate it too.
