Ministry – All Day/Every (Is Halloween) (US 12″)

Burning The Ground Exclusive 1985

“All Day” and “(Every Day Is) Halloween” are songs by the American band Ministry, both written and produced by Al Jourgensen. These were originally released by Wax Trax! Records in 1984 as Ministry’s “comeback” single following their departure from Arista Records,  with “All Day” on the A-side and “(Every Day Is) Halloween” on the B-side.

Music writer Dave Thompson described “(Every Day Is) Halloween” as having been “adopted as the anthem of America’s disenfranchised Gothic community.

Hi Paul,

Very interesting to see this posted. I went through a huge industrial phase
in the late 80’s, and 90s. It was my preferred music choice. It was so noisy,
and less known than even new wave. It felt like it was even more exclusive
and cool at times. Now, its kind of grating, and just seems like noise, with
my old ears. ha ha.

Anyways, the earliest ministry was synthpop, and then went industrial,
and then went metalish. Funny, but there’s a new ministry album and
single out now also.

This is one of the coolest remixes of the entire era (and a fabulous Halloween themed track). Thanks for this in all of it’s original glory!

Hey Paul, As I’ve mentioned from time to time, Burning The Ground has always been full of synchronicities – meaningful coincidences. Like, you posting related singles or me, thinking of specific songs, and then, there you go, posting the song I was just thinking about. It’s a bit mystical to say the least. WELL, this turned out to be another week where it has happened again. I don’t even know if you know this or not, but you bookended the week with Cabaret Voltaire and then with Ministry. Al Jourgensen really admired Cabaret Voltaire, so when the Cabs came to… Read more »
