The track was further edited for 7″ release and titled “Star Wars/Cantina Band” which went on to become a #1 pop single in the U.S. and top ten in the U.K..

This was one of the first 45s I ever bought.
Wow.
I really loved this song when I was a child growing up in the 70’s and 80’s, this was a great soundtrack to have on while playing with the Star Wars Palitoy/Kenner action figures. There was another disco Star Wars Vinyl LP I had called The Sonic All-Stars – The Sounds Of Star Wars (conducted by Bruce Baxter). I have never seen a Starwars movie longer than minutes. Never got into. Never will, I guess. But I later discovered Carrie Fisher as a person. Got a soft spot for her ever since. Her way of looking to her and our world, her humor, her wit. Her ability to explain the horrors of life in a way that touched a lot of people from within that world and beyond. Wow, Paul!! My jaw dropped when I saw this posting!! Although I’m not a Star Wars fan, I love the film scores by John Williams. And, I was delighted when Meco Monardo decided to make dance/disco records based on Mr. Williams’ wonderful movie music. It’s fantastic to have a shorter edit than the album version, but much longer than the 7-inch pop single (of which you have graciously given us on BTG; and with Meco’s take on “The Wizard of Oz” themes).
