Martika – I Feel The Earth Move (US 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1989

A. Front

This post is in no way meant to be insensitive to the people of Japan or Ecuador. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by the recent earthquakes.

“I Feel the Earth Move” is a song written and originally recorded by pop singer-songwriter Carole King in 1971.

Released in summer 1989, “I Feel the Earth Move” was the third single from American singer-songwriter and actress Martika’s self-titled debut, Martika. “I Feel the Earth Move” reached number 7 in the UK and number 2 in Australia. The high energy music video was shot during the promotional tour for this album. The single also reached number 25 on the pop charts in the U.S., but quickly fell down the chart after radio stations pulled it from their playlists in the wake of the 1989 San Francisco earthquake.

Love, love this song and the funny thing is that I wasn’t even aware, when this came out, that this is a original Carole King song and composition. lol!

Paul, I just love how you keep us on our toes with all the great music you have to offer. I love this remake so much and I can’t wait to hear the remixes and such. Geez, you really almost have EVERYTHING!! What an honor to get stuff from you in the first place. It’s like I’m re-living my musical past all over again, but this time it’s with the 12-inch versions and with better fidelity the second time around. Ooh, it just gives me gooseflesh with what you do. How lucky and privileged we all are!! Once again, you… Read more »

Hey Paul, I wanted to comment about Tiffany’s “I Saw Him Standing There.” I think it was great that you were going to post it, but I’m so glad you didn’t. I love how you strive for perfection and wouldn’t compromise your quality on anything. So, I’ll be looking forward to it one day in the future. I loved this Beatles’ remake. This was a great song to begin with, so I can imagine how the dance mix will be.
