I’m surprised no-one mentioned that this was also recorded by Dusty Springfield at about the same time (I always get confused as to who actually recorded it first, but it was only a hit for Marcia)

This is daughter Deni’s biggest and most obvious hit:

Thanks so much Paul, I can’t wait to listen to this. I am unfamiliar with this artist. Her genre is just the sort of style I enjoy. It’s a shame that some artists in Europe and Australia never got enough recognition in the U.S., not that we have a shortage of good music, but for me there is never too much good music, especially disco, R&B, soul, and funk (even sometimes rock, pop, hip-hop, rap, house, techno, rave, gothic, baroque, classical, jazz, and industrial). I think some of those are sub-genres of the other, but I’m not sure. Your blog… Read more »

Hey Paul, did you have a problem with the dot-screen on the sleeve scan? (the diagonal grid of dots on her clothes – I don’t think it’s meant to be there?)

I found a really cool descreen filter for Photoshop that works intelligently rather than just using blurring like scanners do: http://www.descreen.net/eng/soft/descreen/descreen_examples.htm

I’ve started to use it on my own stuff and have been pleased so far. Might be worth a play? I was gonna descreen your scan to compare it, but it needs the 600dpi version to work its magic. 🙂

I always go to Google when I see something here I don’t recognize. Sometimes it’s a track I forgot about!

If you google the artist and title, Youtube videos usually come up, and you can just listen to a snippet before deciding to take advantage of Paul’s hard work. 😉

Great to see you back in action, Paul!
Only have the 7″ version so thanks for the 12″.
Marcia’s daughter Deni Hines had a string of 90s hits in Australia, both as part of The Rockmelons and solo.
The mother and daughter team even got together and released a cover of Stomp.
