Thanks a ton for this! So many great posts lately!
As far as I know, the 7 inch version of Lucky Star has never made it to CD. Would appreciate please if you could remaster this particular single. Thanks from Sydney Australia.
I really love these rare 7″ edits, Paul! THANK YOU!!! Interesting that this song was held off the number 1 spot by Martika’s “Toy Soldier” … but I love that sweet song (and was probably named after it). Too bad there was never a great remix of Toy Soldier by someone like Sheppibone.
OK, you convinced me to try this music. Thanks agaub, Paul.
I haven’t had the album version of this in years — which I’ve missed — but how is the 7″ Remix (A-Side) different?
To put it another way, is it just an edit of the LIKE A PRAYER album version?
It is an edit of the Shep Pettibone Local Mix (extended version). It is a remix edit, not an edit of the original album version.
You are correct Andrew thanks for answering Richards’s question. 🙂
In my head, I think of the two options as the horn’y versions and the blippy & stuttering “baby” versions! 🙂 I realise there are variations in those two options.
Thanks! I guess it’s ‘in the style’ of the album version, I mean — as opposed to the remixed blippy version (like the b-side here and on The Immaculate Collection with a few edits).
“Vinyl aficionados swear by the richer,
more accurate sound embedded in a record.”
Excellent, thanks Paul!! I love this album, Like A Prayer. Her most mature effort to date, and IMHO the peak of her career before she went overboard on the gratuitous factor!
I agree with you Retro Hound “Like A Prayer” is an amazing pop album. 🙂
Hi Paul,
Except for the 2021 Rhino 5xFLAC reissue, Shep’s B-side “4:50 remix/edit” is only available on a couple of rare CD promos.
Thanks for posting!
You’re welcome 🙂
Thanks for the Madonna Paul!
You’re welcome 🙂
Ooo! The 7″ edits! Love this – thank you so much.
You’re welcome 🙂
One of my favourite Madonna singles from the 80’s and Shep really did a stellar job.
Looking forward to hearing these later.
Thanks Paul 🙂
