Madison Square – Happiness (Germany 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1987

“Happiness” is a 1987 single by German band Madison Square. This single is truly one of those obscure 80’s records I could not find any information about this band anywhere on the internet. According to Discogs they never released a full album and this was their only single release. Kind of a shame because this record is really pretty good. I hope you give it a listen and like it too.

Tried clearing browser cache. That logged me out of all sites I stay logged into. Logged back into all of them. Then redownloaded this from the ‘flac’ button. Still getting 16 bit wav not 16 bit flac…?

It’s not bad … it just sounds a bit … errr … ‘continental heterosexual’. LOLz! 🤣 I like the artwork. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Of the three tracks, I prefer “Only You” — jazzy R&B-twinged pop — it’s very When In Rome, Johnny Hates Jazz, Level 42, etc. But even that one is pop-song-by-numbers. It’s not bad. It’s just not exciting. Thanks for sharing! I’ve never heard of them … so it’s something new. 🥳

Please more obscure German synth-pop Paul! Could you rip stuff from the Blow Up label?

Great record Paul, and thank you for sharing joy! I grabbed the 16 bit version. Yeah, the 24 bit is gone.

WOOOW PAUL!! How happy you make me with this post. I’ve been waiting for this for such a long time. The song got some airplay in Germany but didn’t chart and I remember buying the 12″ single. Christian Simath is a singer born in Berlin and is behind this project called “Madison Square”. The single was produced by sound engineer Juergen Koppers and Peter Luedemann. That’s all I know about Madison Square. Paul I’m so glad you like the record. I hope others will like it too. Without you this project would never get a chance to be discovered and… Read more »

As always, I trust your ears Paul and I have a feeling I think I will like this one. Thanks for your dedication to the obscure and forgotten music of the 80’s and 90’s.

Have a nice day!!
