Kylie Minogue – I Should Be So Lucky (US 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1988

“Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi”

Released on 29 December 1987 by Mushroom Records and PWL Records, the song became a worldwide breakthrough hit; its now-iconic image of Minogue on the front cover was shot by David Levine. Thank you for debuting KYLIE! I’m a rabid fan. She is often brushed aside here in the US as a “one-hit wonder” but most everywhere else she’s still cranking out the hits today. Her new album is coming out this year. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Ooh, I will never play this. But I do enjoy the cover. Incredible skilled people she has found long ago, that keep her looking young until infinity. But, ah well, no but,
I just remember her tiny golden pants video, that one song I do can karaoke..
Trivial persuit, am I one a straight man, two a gay woman, three deaf, or four just gay on cafeine?

Such a long time ago and still sounds like a crappy song for me 😉
Nevermind, thanks anyway for the cover picture and keeping the memories alive – I actually did/do still like some of the PWL songs/remixes nevertheless, my favourites being Brilliant, The Three Degrees, Ellis Beggs & Howard, Princess and Wa Wa Nee.. Peace 🙂

If you have the european pressing running at 45 rpm, then play it at 33 rpm and you will hear:
Rick Astley at his best

How could we be so lucky with such a surprise like this today. Kylie’s another pop royalty and have been a fan of since her introduction in the late-80s. So great to hear a vinyl version of this remix and hopefully it won’t the last. 🙂

Thank you Dj PaulT!

Squeee!!!
People forget how cutting edge SAW were back in the day. Reminds me of my days as a podium dancer at Zuzus/7th Heaven!

Thanks so much for this rip Paul, and glad to see Kylie finally on here.
How about What Do I Have To Do and Shocked?

xxx John.

mushroom records of Australia… Not to be confused with a different label..
Mushroom Records of Canada that went out of business in 1980 because of the lawsuit from Ann and Nancy Wilson of HEART LOL

Good post Paul. Thanks for Kylie

Thank you for flying the Aussie flag Paul. If postage wasn’t so damn expensive I would send you a heap of other Oz guilty pleasures to catalog for posterity.

Huge thanks for this Paul. Such a happy song that brings back wonderful memories for me. Think the dance remix that runs at 6.30 mins was the Bicentennial Mix over here in the UK as I have it on vinyl somewhere.

You´re right, Roy. Although it is a bit shorter than that. My UK 12inch does not give any running times but my rip clocks in at 6´13.

You just have to love her, don´t you. I remember avidly watching “Neighbours” on dutch television. The series was completely unknown in Germany back then and never became a success over here. Boy, did I have a crush on that beautiful, wanna-be butch girl. Geeeee 🙂
Still love the SAW catalogue. My favourite Kylie tracks from the Eighties were and are “Je ne sais pas pourquoi” and “Got to be certain”. Maybe I will find those here some time hint-hint 🙂

Thank you, Paul. Love it.

Although I’m still not down from the high of “Out Of Mind Out Of Sight” I gasped in delight seeing Kylie’s adorable picture come on to my screen!! This song was such a guilty pleasure way back when and even now, I get all giggly when I hear the song come on. Thank you Paul for this pop confection. I think Miss Minogue is beyond fabulous and I am thrilled she’s on your site under you expert care.

All Smiles,

Jeff
