NEW Meticulous Restoration!
Originally posted November 25, 2017
“The Touch” is the second single from the 1984 Kim Wilde album Teases & Dares, released at the end of the year it did not match the success of her previous single.
It was released as both a 7″ and a 12″ single. The 7″ had a remix of the album version on side A, and a track was written by Wilde herself on side B entitled “Shangri-La”, also from the Teases and Dares album. Both tracks were extended for the 12″ release. It also featured in the soundtrack of the American movie Secret Admirer.

Getting Wilde, just before a vacation? Excellent timing!
Thanks, Paul 🙂
Thanks for this, I owned the 12″ back in the day, and I remember thinking “what a great sharp remix … but where is the first verse?” — it wasn’t that common for mainstream artists to go all rogue on song architecture then.
You’re welcome, Andy 🙂
Agree with everyone here concerning this great 12-inch. Paul, thanks for keeping this music alive and strong. You keep reminding the world what an incredible decade the 1980s truly are.
Everybody have a fantastic weekend!
Jeff
Thanks so much, Jeff 🙂
I’m fairly new to Kim’s ‘wilderness’ period in the ’80s, when the hits dried up a bit here in the UK, but loved this when I first heard it. It sums up all that was great about that period in music, how electronic pop was evolving – it actually reminds me a lot of New Order in places. Teases & Dares is indeed an underrated album. Give me thumping great drums over the current ‘twig-tapping-a-saucepan’ trend anyday!
Daryl, you said it all I totally agree with you. 🙂
This is one of the absolute best Kim Wilde remixes – and such a quintessential 80s remix. I was blasting this in my car just the other day. Thanks for this amazing gem, Paul – and all the best to you and yours!
You’re welcome, Dugn. The song sounds great loud and should have been a much bigger hit. Stay safe, and have a great weekend 🙂
After the excellent trio of new wave albums for RAK, Teases & Dares was such an exciting and fun direction for KW to go in before she went completely pop. I still love this song and think it’s one of her best. Thank you so much for this meticulous transfer!
You’re welcome, Dean. Teases was a great album 🙂
