(continued:) This version is notable as it became one of fewer than fifty singles ever to have sold in excess of 10 million physical copies worldwide. In addition to several hits in various countries, they were in-demand backing singers, plus Katie toured and sang for numerous famous rockers during her career.
Brother & sister Mac and Katie Kissoon (born in Trinidad as Gerald and Katherine Farthing) are best known in the US & Canada for their 1971 bubblegum version of “Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep”, surprisingly a song about child abandonment. (Canada pop #10, US Hot 100 #20; Canada AC #11, US AC #10). For the rest of the world, the Kissoons lost out to a parallel cover by the Euro-pop group Middle Of The Road, who scored a #1 hit for five weeks on the UK Singles chart as well as peaking #1 or top 10 in 18 other countries. Can’t wait to hear this! I only knew of Katie as a Van Morrison backup singer in the late 70s – didn’t know she has releases of her own. Thanks so much!
How you do take me back, Paul, to so many beloved records of my youth!! It’s been ages since I’ve last heard this wonderful song. I am in heaven over all the songs you have posted over the weeks!!! Thank you so much!!

Do you have Katie Kissoon : You’re The One (You’re My Number One).
Rare Track and hard to find.
Sorry, I don’t have that one. 🙂
This is new to me. I love the song and the mixes are awesome. Thanks a lot Paul. Have a nice weekend 🙂
You’re welcome, have a nice weekend.
Dig that wild misspelling of “a capella” on the disc label.
That is pretty wild 🙂
