This is a nice track from Jellybean, i meet him and is a really nice guy, humble and gentle. Jellybean have another tracks that are amazing like Who found who with Elisa Fiorillo or The Real Thing with Steven Dante from 1987, excellent producer, he is the one who get Madonna on the spotlight with Holiday and more hits, he was at he beginning of the 80’s like a remixer machine, he worked with all the big names on that era and be part of big movies too. Definitive a big artist and as i read above “we need more… Read more »
Excelente 12″ de Jellybean gracias Pault.
I wore this cassingle OUT !!!
🙂
Thanks.
You’re welcome Richard 🙂
Cool post, Paul! I hate to be so critical but Jellybean should have stuck to remixing and producing rather than trying to be a singer/group. His remix/production stuff in the 80s was amazing. You could never go wrong buying a 12″ that had his name on the credits. But his solo stuff? As they say…”don’t give up your day job.” 🙂 How he ever convinced Madonna to hide her name from any Sidewalk Talk sleeve (other than credits in tiny print) is amazing…she wrote the song! I remember this song well (I have no idea how it ever got to… Read more »
Thank you for your comment, Fred. Jellybean did some fun records outside of his remixing career with eight charting singles with three peaking at #1 on the dance chart.
Gosh Paul, you’re giving me all the feels with these songs from my past. I loved Jellybean Benitez, first as a remixer and then as an artist. I loved his “Jingo” song and especially his “Dancing On The Fire” and that was because of John Robie’s astounding production/playing on the original. I know Jellybean did a version featuring India, but the first incarnation of the song was incredible.
Anyway, this is a fine record and brings back many tremendous memories.
Jeff
My favorite was “The Mexican” and “Sidewalk Talk” of course. Jellybean did some fun solo work outside of his remixer role. Oh and “Who found Who” great dance track 🙂
This site needs more Jellybean.
I have a lot posted of him as a remixer 🙂
I had the maxi-cassette single of this, I remember comparing the 12″ to it in Tower Records when it came out and ultimately deciding on the cassette because it had more remixes than the 12″ did. Most of them were different, too!
They spread the cassingle remixes over two 12″ promo’s in the US.
