Burning The Ground Exclusive 1983
“Dance” is a 1983 Australia only 12″ released by Australian new wave band INXS. The 12″ includes an extended version of the single “Black And White” from the LP “Shabooh Shoobah” the song reached #24 on the Australian singles chart. Also included is “Long In Tooth” which appeared as the b-side of the North American release of the single “Don’t Change”.
The stand out for this release is “Any Day But Sunday” which is exclusive to this 12″.
In the US a similar release was issued titled “Dekadance” which included an alternate tracklist. “Dance” is by far the harder to find since it was only issued in Australia.

Paul, I wasn’t aware of this import EP at all and I absolutely love it. I had the US version, so this was a very welcome surprise. I so prefer the early dance-oriented club sound of vintage INXS. This got me bopping around the house into a full sweat.
Many thanks!!!
Jeff
Thanks Paul. INXS’ 12″ singles from Shabooh Shabah, Listen Like Thieves and Kick are all brilliant. Cheers Jason
Thanks a lot !
I had never heard both B-sides before.
I hope one day you will be able to post the Australian pressing of “Don’t Change” 7″ released in 1982 because its B side “Go West cannot be found anywhere else.
Thanks again Paul !
I will keep that one in mind 🙂
I’m late to the site due to my new job, but a big thanks for the great and rare rip, Paul!
The INXS Kick album was my first experience with INXS and not only is it an absolutely phenomenal album, but it made me look a bit back at their earlier work. The What You Need [Coldcut Force Mix] mix on the Disappear cd single in 1990 was a real treat!
Thanks again!
You’re welcome, Fred 🙂
hi paul, i LOVE earlier INXS from the eighties. i think i mentioned the dekadance remix EP, was 2 things for me. i heard the remix of the ‘one thing’ on the radio, and it was the first 12 inch mix i heard that way. it was one of the first remixes i ever owned. now of course, i didn’t have this australian version, or knew about it, until many decades later. i love the earlier synthpop sound that INXS had, and shabooh shoobah is my favorite album from them. their b-sides are very mixed. some are cool, some are… Read more »
You’re welcome -1 shabooh shoobah is my favorite album from the band too before they exploded with Kick. I prefer their new wave synth-pop sound. I have the original US pressing of Dekadance I hope to post it someday. I will look into the newly released version 🙂
Hi Paul
Thanks! My brother is a fan of InXS but did not know about this release, nor about dekadance; found this about the latter and ordered a copy for him

Always great to see a INXS post, especially this Australian 12″ of Dance.
Cool tracks on here, plus “Black And White” is a fantastic track, I remember listening to Shabooh Shoobah alot in the 80’s.
Paul, bet you’re looking forward to the release of Duran Duran’s new single “Invisible”, which is out tomorrow and their new album “Future Past” in October.
Loving the snippets and teasers!
Do you have Dekadance ? please.
I am looking forward to the new Duran Duran album and single. I do have the US version of Dekadance will try to post it soon.
You simply can’t go wrong with INXS!!!
Thanx for this one and keep ’em coming, Paul 🙂
Best regards from Brazil
