Burning The Ground Exclusive 1984
“Tokyo Rose” is the debut single by Canadian Rock Band Idle Eyes. The song peaked at #16 on RPM’s Canadian singles chart in June 1985. “Tokyo Rose” won an award that year from SOCAN (Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada) as one of the top ten most-played songs on Canadian radio that year.
“Tokyo Rose” was inspired by the generic name “Tokyo Rose”, which was used to describe female Japanese DJs who attempted to shake the morale of American soldiers and spread propaganda in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
“Tokyo Rose” was only released as a 12″ Promo with remixes in the United States.

link expired and I was out in travel, can reupload, please the 24/94 version. My email: eusourafinha@outlook.com . I can’t even download the 16/44 version, because an unknown error happens here. I was searching by years some lossless copy from Idle Eyes’s discography, but only I find one bad mp3 128 kbps. And I don’t like mp3 128 kbps.
Never saw this come into the radio station considering it was released on the same label Shannon had her hits
Thanks for this DJPaul!
Absolutely brilliant! I love this band. Didn’t know about these mixes, they’re awesome. So happy to get them in pristine quality. That’s another lost 80s gem. Thanks to you it gets a second chance to be discovered. Thank you so much Paul. No mather what happens you will always be my hero 🙂
You’re welcome, Daniel. I hope you enjoy this record 🙂
Canada was awash with some really interesting bands in the 80s. Most didn’t achieve long term fame but they shone rather brightly while they were in the limelight. One of my favourite bands from that era was Chalk Circle who put out a couple of really great albums. Some others that were better known were of course Lover Boy and Honeymoon Suite who both interestingly produced tracks that were used in movies such as Top Gun and Lethal Weapon.
I will have to check out Chalk Circle I have never heard of them 🙂
I’m familiar with this one! This song was very well-received in their native Canada, but didn’t make much of a splash here in the US. Very excited to have this in pristine quality! Thank you Paul!! Have a great weekend Paul, Jeff, Fred and all the rest with good musical taste!
You’re welcome, Retro Hound. Have a great weekend 🙂
I am always intrigued when you post something I am unaware of!! Looking forward to later playing this one!! Thanks, Paul!
Have a great weekend!! You too, Song And Dance, Retro Hound, Fred and all the community here!!
Jeff
I hope you have a great long weekend, Jeff :
This one has such a high “cool” factor!! I see many comparisons to Men at Work, Glenn Frey solo and the Police, don’t entirely disagree. Thanks!
I would agree with you, Raymond. This band should have been much bigger. “Tokyo Rose” is one of my favorite lost 804 gems. 🙂
804!!! You have your work cut out for you!! Doing a fine job so far, much appreciated….
