Burning The Ground Exclusive 1988
“Small World” was the second single released, and title track of the fifth studio LP by American Pop/Rock band Huey Lewis & The News. The single debuted on the US Billboard Hot 100 on October 8, 1988, peaking at #25 on November 26, 1988, after spending eleven weeks on the survey.
Although it reached the top 20 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, the album did not sell as well as the band’s previous albums, Sports and Fore!. However, Lewis himself stated in a Behind the Music interview that the recording process for Small World had the most favorable working conditions.

Gracias por esta gran aporte. Saludos desde México!!!
I love me some Huey Lewis but this track wasn’t one of their best. Thanks for uploading though, this mix is a new one to me, so I’m grateful to have had the chance to hear it.
I wasn’t aware of this single before now, but that music video has wet my appetite for what John Luongo did with his remix.
It’s a great song, i reckon.
Thanks Paul 🙂
AWESOME! THANK YOU! I’ve always loved Huey Lewis remixes and I’ve always been surprised that more 80s rock artists didn’t put out remixes like this, a concept that also worked really well for Billy Idol, Def Leppard, etc. But most importantly, thank you for adding another rare John Luongo remix that didn’t make it onto the recent Dance Masters compilation.
Somehow never heard this one, yet I’ve followed the band since “Working For A Living” was an alternative hit here in L.A. in 1980. I bought the Baker and Luongo box sets, yet this must have been too difficult or costly to license.
Love, love, love this 12 inch!! I’ve been considering purchasing it for a while, but now thanks to your meticulous work… One of my favorite extended dance mixes of Huey. HL & The News were part of my soundtrack to many years in the 80s, especially some great summers. This really brings joy to me and I’m sure many others. Thank you so much Paul!
You’re welcome, Retro Hound. I have always loved HL I hope you enjoy this one 🙂
thank u 4 this another masterpiece of ”Huey Lewis & The News”…I love this song also becouse the great Jazz musician ”Stan Getz”…have playng inside! thank u very much!
…I’m sorry I’ve forget another important thing…some member of the great band ”Tower Of Power”…have play the horns session!
You’re welcome I appreciate the info 🙂
This is a real find for me, Paul. I really like Huey Lewis and even though I don’t remember the song, I really like what I’m hearing. Speaking of which, I love that you’re including the music video for your tracks. It’s a great way to check the song out before downloading the track. I know it may not be the same version, but it’s a glimpse into the music. I love this. Very excited too that John Luongo did the dance mix. He’s really an outstanding remixer. I’ve been following him since the Disco days, and I especially love… Read more »
You’re welcome, Jeff. I do like including the video in the post for the same reason you do. I hope you enjoy this lost Luongo mix not included in his recent box set.
