This remix has finally made it CD. A new 30th Anniversary edition of the album collects up most of the B sides and 12″ mixes. I have this release and it sounds great for those that are interested…

…onto CD even…!
I got into Hipsway from the Altered Images connection. They had quite a few great tracks. My faves were “Broken Years” and “Honeythief.”
Shame this band were short-lived. I have the UK re-recorded 12″ on mp3 and probably most of the others off the first album, too. This FK version is unique to that side of the pond, I believe. Another short-lived Scottish band that are similar, but a little rockier are Slide. Worth checking out.
That reads a bit wrong. What I meant was that the FK remix is unique to the US side of the Atlantic and that the UK 12″ is totally different. I think that makes more sense?!
You are correct SimonP the mixes on this post are exclusive to the US 12″ 🙂
If you’d like a listen to the UK one I’d be happy to post it. You can then buy it and do it properly for me to download! 😉
Looking at Discogs it seems the US 7″ has an exclusive version, too, as it appears to have a Michael Brauer remix, also available on a 12″ promo…
Ooh!
I remember you posting The Honeythief, Paul.
Thanks for Ask The Lord. I knew it was released twice, but never knew it was re-recorded!
They had another single, The Broken Years, if I’m not wrong.
McElhone went on to be part of the very successful Scottish band Texas in the late 80s.
You’re welcome Ric. I think “Broken Years” was their first single. Have never listened to texas i’ll have to check them out.
Cooool! Thanks Paul!!
You’re welcome Cory 🙂
very good song scottish band as well )
I agree Dazz22 🙂
Paul, thanks so much for this!
I have always really liked Hipsway, I have their first album and played it a lot, still do. Many good tracks on it. Definitely deeper than a one-hit wonder band.
I didn’t realize they re-recorded “Ask the Lord”…and a Francois K remix to boot…very cool.
Great to know other folks out there were/are into Hipsway.
OldDJ I have just about worn out my copy of their first album. I need to explore them further. I agree with you they are much deeper than a one hit wonder band.
My favourite mixers Francois Kevorkian and Ron St. Germain, can’t wait to hear this 12 inch. Don’t think I know this one, but maybe I’ll recognise it.
Hope you like it Stefano. Hipsway is one of my favorite bands and were very underrated in my opinion 🙂
cool new wave. Thanks Paul.
You’re welcome Omar 🙂
