Grace Jones – Sex Drive (US 12″)

Burning The Ground Exclusive 1993

“Sex Drive” is a 1993 single by Grace Jones.

“Sex Drive” is a cover version of the Sheep on Drugs 1992 song “Track X”. It was written by band members themselves and produced for Grace Jones by Mark Pistel and Philip Steir. It was released on 23 September 1993 by Island Records with a cover of the Consolidated song “Typical Male” as the B-side. The single met with considerable success, topping the US dance chart.

Both songs were to be featured on Jones’ then-forthcoming Black Marilyn album, planned for a 1994 release, but eventually shelved due to an unknown reason.

Paul, thanks for posting another ‘Great Grace’ song!
(BTW: The track “Typical Male” is NOT a cover of the Tina Turner hit.)

Thanks! Any and every Grace Jones record is greatly appreciated!
I have this on CD. It does not have a paper cover, the front logo and back cover are printed directly onto the black plastic tray.

I bought this at Tower Records back in the day.
It’s one of the more unusual CD singles in my collection.

Hot Damn, Paul!!! Many sincere thanks for this Grace Jones single. I love songs about sex and cars, with all the double entendres and metaphors for both acts! Like Dead Or Alive’s “Sex Drive” this satisfies on so many levels!! Plus! It’s Grace Jones and she is sex on a stick for me!! Absolutely, LOVE HER!!

You’re the best Paul. Keep these “aural sex” tracks coming!!

Jeff
