Back from vacation and a lot fantastic stuff here. Private Life was missing in my collection. Thx Paul.
I love Grace. Waiting for her long announced “new” Album SHE.
Thanks.
Thanks for sharing these pearls Paul, as always you are the best!!! A huge hug
You’re welcome, Martin 🙂
So nice to see a Froggy rarity on BTG !
He was one of a handful of UK DJs that pioneered the art of ‘megamixing’ in the early 80s here. On this one, he’s alongside Music of Life Records founder Simon Harris [Another UK Hip-Hop/ club scene legend], this is a classic, and thoroughly welcomed, thanks Paul !
Craig
You’re welcome, Craig 🙂
Cool to see more Grace Jones on here. Your previous postings of her are some of my favourite 12”s.
I missed the Slave To The Rhythm post some years ago though.
Cheers Paul 🙂
Cheers, Marco 🙂
With the upcoming L.A. inside mask mandate, I want to wear this one!
Keep up the megamixes, Paul! This release is a total surprise. I thought I knew all her 12-inchers by now.
That would be an awesome mask I would definitely wear it 🙂
Amazing Grace … ’nuff said!
I was always wondering when you’d might get around to posting more Grace Jones and I see that today is the day!! Love this artist so much. Her talents and her beauty; she is fierce in every way!!! Thank you ever so much Paul for bringing this back with a new rip to our ears!!!
Jeff
This one has been long overdue for a new transfer. Hope you enjoy it, Jeff 🙂
Hi DjPaulT would be interesting for us more technically-oriented people to know what changed between the transfers, except personal time spent 🙂 I mean a short paragraph from you comparing the two audio results? That would be great. Thanks again for your work, I am really envious of this! Konstantinos
Hi Konstantinos, The main thing would be equipment since 2011 I have made several upgrades including my Turntable, and pre-amp I will list the changes below. In 2011 I was also using a software program (ClickRepair) to automatically remove clicks and pops which cause some degrading of the audio quality. Today I meticulously manually remove each click and pop. There are many more technical things that I do differently now than I did in 2011 including Dithering and resampling. In 2011 was just starting on my vinyl transfer journey and over the last thirteen years or so I have learned… Read more »
Thanks DjPaulT
I agree Paul. For me, manual click repair is the only way to go at this time. In the ’80s, Burwin made a wideband box that had clipper diodes that took out pops and clicks if used sparingly. Unfortunately if you had a noisy disc you’d have to turn it up higher, which clipped all the audio into nastiness. It’s all about starting with the cleanest source material in the first place.
Wow, another one I never knew existed. While I’m not generally fond of megamixes, I love Grace Jones and especially look forward to hearing the Private Life remix. Thank you!
You’re welcome, Dean 🙂
With the right crowd, megamixes have always been outstanding floor-fillers for me. Plus they work well for radio and passive listening as well.
I agree. Long live the Megamix!!! Especially the vintage ones with mad-capped Edits!!!!!
