That guy in the back looks nervous and the guy in the front looks like a vampire after him from a movie.
Thank you so much for this! I ripped this 12″ about 20 years ago, but the sound quality, it is poor. This will be a massive upgrade. 🙂
The sound is Perfect!
Many thx and hello from Israel.
This mix is the perfect example how a modest album track can become a great song if properly remixed.
Thank you for another great Go West post!
These are really great mixes.
I do urge people to check-out their other albums which are just as great!
Wow – never knew that this ever-so-slightly shorter edit existed, so thanks for that, Paul 🙂
That said, you really have to wonder what the logic was (if any!) in making such a minor edit to the remix – was it simply to be able to say that this particular 12″ featured an ‘exclusive’ version of the song?
It couldn’t be that cynical, surely? And if it was, why would they then give it the SAME NAME as the longer version (in the UK, the Kitchen Sink mix was just labelled as the Indiscriminate MIx).
Anyway, thanks again!
Love this post. Thank you. I think it is bonkers that there would be such similar mixes and/or similar remix names. For We Close Our Eyes, I had no idea there was both a Total Overhang Mix AND a Total Overhang Club Mix. And they are different mixes. It would have been great to understand the thinking behind it all, or if there was any thinking. Ha!
Thanks Paul, Appreciate the post, as again completing the list of these mixes, and confusing nature of them. I did list them out in a comment yesterday. We close our Eyes is a great song, that really kicked it off for them, and Go West is still around, making music, and touring every once in awhile. Peter Cox has had several Adult Contemporary releases of albums, and several singles, and remixes, if you like his voice. Some are dance oriented. Hopefully, someday Go West will return to this sound. In the meantime, look for some tracks on the Fly (Eddie… Read more »
I don’t think Go West could ever return to their 80s sound, even if they wanted to.
So much of that sound for me was down to the stellar backing group – particularly ace bassist Pino Palladino (who they probably can’t afford now!) and guitar-meister Alan Murphy (who is sadly no longer with us)
Also thanks x2 for clarifying and for providing a comprehensive reconciliation of the Call Me remixes 🙂 . I’m blown away by your collection and your pristine rips. Great stuff, Paul!
PS: Speaking of x2, curious whether you have Times Two – Strange But True in your collection. It was a fun dance track that got a lot of requests in my club back in the late 80s.
These rips are amazing. Thanks again, Paul.
Thank you Paul.
Thanks for clearing up things Paul. I get so confused with mixes being mislabeled or other confusions
In your valued opinion, what is the better mix? I’m just glad to have all these mixes.
Have a nice day Paul.
