Enjoying finding your blog again after about 5 or more years absence. I believe the credits for the string arranger should read Michael KAMEN instead of KAYMAN. It seems an obvious spelling error. I am confident I am correct in this assumption. His credits are too impeccable for it to be anyone else. Michael Kamen was originally a member of the US Band The New York Rock & Roll Ensemble , who did 3 LPs for ATCO in late 60s/ early 70s before moving to Columbia for their final two LPs. They also appeared on the S/T to Zachariah on… Read more »

Cora, before you rag on Paul, look at the back of the 12″ where the arranger’s name is spelled KAYMAN, not Kamen. Maybe it’s not the same person, or RCA has the spelling error, not BTG? My guess is RCA misspelled Mr. Kamen’s name. He is also famous for scoring a Metallica album as well.

Always a favorite Eurythmics track of mine. I was mesmerized with the video and I don’t think I’d ever get tired watching it today.

One of my dream rips, thanks, Paul! I bought this 12″ at the time, and am amazed this full-length version has never been released on CD! The track may be an icy electro-ballad, but it’s intriguing how the ‘doo-wop’ backing vox hinted at the r’n’b sound they preferred on subsequent albums (such as ‘Thorn in My Side’).

I love when you give your fans so much pleasure Paul!! I love reading the missives of gratitude and heart-felt praise. I love this post too!! I can’t wait to hear the live version of “This City Never Sleeps” one of the most atmospheric songs these guys did. And I love how this song was featured in the film “9 1/2 Weeks.” Who can forget that erotic scene with Kim Basinger!?! Great love making song!! And Paul, their “Paint A Rumour” is an ultimate fave of mine. So hypnotic and trance inducing. Exotic and erotic in its own right too!!… Read more »
