BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1984
“Desire” was the fourth single taken from the LP Building Beauty by Scottish new wave band Endgames. Hot off of supporting Howard Jones during his first sold-out tour of the UK March-April 1984 “Desire” failed to catch on. so it sold poorly. Virgin then ended the band’s contract and not long afterward Endgames disbanded.

Yes Paul!! You really picked a fantastic record to showcase. I love everything about this song: the music, production and those vocals. I’ll have to check out the other version you posted. I guess I’m getting older, but it’s getting quite difficult to remember EVERYTHING!! But I love re-visiting things only to get that burst of satisfaction.
Thank you so very much Paul!!
Jeff
Love! Love! Love! Engames. Thank you so much for this one.
Not bad! I have literally never heard of them. But Peter Ashworth shot the cover photo! That’s impressive. I like the music much more than the vocal. 😮
Check out some of their other titles that I have posted Richard 🙂
Another release i have in my 7″ vinyl collection. Can’t wait to hear the Extended Version when i get home.
Cheers Paul 🙂
Cheers Mark! 🙂

Wow wow wow Paul! That’s another fantastic post! I love that single and band. It’s one of my favorite 80’s singles ever. You already posted this song with different mixes in 2014. But I prefer by far this mix. The rythm is so hypnotic. It makes me feel like I’m in trance. Paul your musical tastes are phenomenal. This rip means so much to me. I remember very well when I heard it for the first time back in 1984. It was magic and so it is today when I listen to this wonderful rip. Memories are coming back from… Read more »
You’re welcome, Daniel. I had forgotten that an alternate mix was on another 12″ I will have to re-visit that one 🙂
I always thought they could have and should have been so much bigger in music history. A shame, really. A couple of great singles including your three uploads, Paul, and the great “Love Cares” (hint hint :-)) Really sad.
I never knew this A-side differed from the “Vocal” version which can be found as the b-side of the Canadian “Waiting For Another Chance” 12inch you posted earlier. What a nice surprise. And I must say I prefer the “vocal” version and its dub mix.
They should have been really big they had it all talent, looks and great music. I have “Love Cares” will try to post it soon 🙂
Thanks Paul.
You’re welcome Omar 🙂
