Echo & The Bunnymen – Bring On The Dancing Horses (US 12″ Promo)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1985
A. Front

Happy Easter

“Bring On the Dancing Horses” is a single by Echo & the Bunnymen which was released on 14 November 1985. It was the only new single to be included on their 1985 compilation album Songs to Learn & Sing. According to the liner notes that accompany the CD release of the album, the song was recorded specifically for the John Hughes film Pretty in Pink, the soundtrack of which also includes it. The song reached number 21 on the UK Singles Chart and number 15 on the Irish Singles Chart.

In a retrospective review of the single, Allmusic journalist Stewart Mason said that the layers of synths on the song and Ian McCulloch’s overdubbed vocals on the chorus add to the “psychedelic haze of the track”. Mason wrote: “Bring On the Dancing Horses has a dreamily catchy chorus and a nice melody.”

This US 12″ promo comes housed in a custom Sire records sleeve the image appears only on one side.

Brilliant quality as always!

All My Colours (Zimbo) is probably my favourite track overall along with the Crocodiles album but the Dancing Horses 12 inch mix comes pretty close – another great remix is the 12 inch ‘Discotheque’ remix of Never Stop from 1983 – It would be great to find all the single mixes on a single album!

Happy Easter Dear Paul! I actually waited to download the track today, Easter Sunday. I love how you’re so clever to give us this “Bunnymen” song on this weekend. Little touches like that bring so much joy into my heart and life. Thank you for such an incredible week of classic 80’s tracks. You do such a fabulous job touching on all the points of this decade’s music (and the 90’s too!). From the familiar to the not so familiar to those incredible obscure surprises, you pull out all-the-stops Paul! You are so perfect, I raise a chocolate bunny in… Read more »

LOVE this song. Didn’t notice it much when I first picked up the Pretty In Pink soundtrack. Now it’s probably tied for Killing Moon as my favorite E&TBm track. Thanks, Paul, and have a great weekend!

It seem like such a minor quibble considering the work you put in but considering your drive for perfection… your site category tag is spelled wrong (“Echo and the Bunntmen”)

This is really appreciated, Paul! From memory there was a glitch on the CD re-issue version of the extended mix and this will probably sound better, anyway 🙂

One of my all-time favorite 80’s songs. Definitely in the top 10.

Keep it up, Paul. You’re batting 1000.

Another track that I didn’t know had an extended version! And it’s one of my favorite Echo & the Bunnymen songs. Thanks so much for sharing.
