The lead singer of Dragon, Marc Hunter unfortunatley died of throat cancer in 1998. A true rock star in every sense of the word.
Interesting that the b-side “Start It Up” doesn’t say it’s an extended mix but it runs almost 3 minutes longer than the album version. Great share, thanks Paul!
You’re welcome, Tim 🙂
Awesome. I was obsessed with Dragon back in the day, particularly Rain….maybe we will see that 12″ here eventually.
I have posted “Rain” in the past maybe I will do a new transfer at some point. 🙂
Thank you for another “obscure” 80s song that definitely shouldn’t have been obscure! I’ve always loved that 80s OZ sound with the perfect blend of synthpop and guitar rock! And REMIXES of 80s rock songs are just the icing on the cake! THANK YOU, PAUL!!!
You’re welcome, Martika. As you can tell by the many Australian acts that I have posted over the years I love the country and the sounds that came from the land Down Under. 🙂
as they say: great minds …
I hear a lot of Dragon on the radio due to music quotas, but it’s usually “Are You Old Enough”, “April Sun In Cuba” or if I’m lucky, “Rain”. I really like “Rain” and another Dragon song “Young Years” (there doesn’t seem to be a remix to request), but I don’t think I’d ever heard this one.
Hi Bob, I have never heard them on the radio at least in my part of the country. I need to procure more of their work. I know I posted “rain” a few years ago. 🙂
The return of the rock!! Thank you Paul! I’ve heard of Dragon – don’t think I was aware they toured with Tina Turner under the name Hunter. Sounds more ‘Americanized’. Looking forward to the extended version. Anything with fiery guitars I am all over!
You’re welcome, Retro Hound. At this point, the band wanted to break into America, which sadly never happened. This record is fire. Enjoy 🙂
Interesting “new” obscure 80’s post! Was reading more on Discogs and it seems this single (possibly remixed) & the parent album were also reissued under the “Hunter” moniker! Very interesting! The band has a longer history going back to the early 70’s! Who knew? Thanks again.
You’re welcome, ING 🙂
Very cool track! Never heard of this band, but the singer sounds remarkably similar to Cy Curnin of the Fixx. Maybe that’s why they weren’t as big as they could have been. Thanks for the download!
You’re welcome, TDOL. 🙂
So good to see another great obscure 80s post. I discovered Dragon when you posted their first single “Rain”. Thank you so much Paul 🙂
You’re welcome, Daniel. Good to see you 🙂
Based on the video alone, I like what I’m hearing! I think it’s very cool that Todd Rundgren is involved. Thanks, again Paul for another cool introduction by this band! I enjoyed reading that their name came from a consultation from the I Ching oracle. I’m so into magick!!
Jeff
I knew that bit of trivia would excite you, Jeff. I hope you enjoy this record 🙂
