This post is certified Halloween Mixtape Worthy!
“Theme From Doctor Detroit” is an EP by the American new wave band Devo, released in 1983 by MCA Records. A music video of the song, containing scenes from the movie as well as footage of the band, was released on the We’re All Devo home video in 1984 and also appears on the 2014 re-release of the Complete Truth About De-Evolution video collection.
In the US, the “Theme from Doctor Detroit” made it to No. 50 on the Billboard Dance Chart chart. On the Hot 100, the song went to No. 59.

Late to the 24 bit Par-tee again, but that’s alright as I’m always grateful for more DEVO. The fact that this DEVO rip is coming from BTG will most likely make it sound even better.
Thanks again, PaulT 🙂
Once again, as someone that used to manage record stores, I THINK I know alot, and then I discover more fun facts about bands I like, thanks to your good self.
I have a decent selection of Devo albums and I dont recall ever knowin about this tune, or the film……
Thanks again sir, have a lovely week where you are.
Thank you very much Paul.
Being an old Devo-tee since 1979 and in the L.A. music scene when this came out, somehow I never heard it on the air on KROQ, never saw it come in the mail or with the record reps, nor anywhere else. Thank for posting this rarity!
Thank you!
I’m looking forward to this years Halloween postings. Unfortunately i have missed past posts around this time of year before.
Thanks Paul 🙂
I just love the Spooky Season and you DjPaulT are always thinking “outside the coffin” when it comes to selecting songs that fit into a Halloween Playlist. Again, I’m thrilled for this Devo record. It’s been years since I’ve thought or even heard the song. To me, Burning The Ground has always meant the very best in New Wave and alternative music. Although this track wasn’t that big on the charts or airwaves, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t or shouldn’t have a place in our hearts! You’re just the greatest Paul. I love you so much!! Jeff P.S. Jeff
You’re welcome, Jeff 🙂
Wow, thank you for this rarity from Devo! I’ve actually recently revisited this forgotten movie, Doctor Detroit, and it’s funny! And how can you go wrong with an appearance by James Brown!
You’re welcome. I need to watch it again it has been a while.
Just like with Oingo Boingo I will take anything to do with DEVO. Thanks so much!
You’re welcome 🙂
