Burning The Ground Exclusive 1985
We could not have Pride month without the Liverpool band Dead Or Alive featuring LGBTQ+ Icon, Pete Burns, And His Impact Upon The World Through His Powerful Presence.
“People always want to know – am I gay, bi, trans, or what? I say, forget all that. There’s got to be a completely different terminology and I’m not aware if it’s been invented yet. I’m just Pete.” – Pete Burns.
“My Heart Goes Bang” is a 1985 song by the English pop band Dead or Alive. It was the fourth and final single from the band’s second studio album Youthquake. It peaked at No. 23 in the United Kingdom, No. 12 in Japan, and became a dance hit in the U.S.

Great quotes from Pete Burns, Jeff, and Martika today!
Many don’t like 7″ singles because they think they’re all edited for radio, which many are. The main thing is when the record companies decide to release a single & video, they want their investment to pay dividends, so money spent on the videos and often “sweetening” the corresponding single are well spent. So many singles are better than their album counterparts, and Paul I appreciate you posting these in addition to the 12″ versions.
hi paul, what a great song to post. i really enjoyed this on the album, and in fact it might be my favorite song from it now. i’m burned out on you spin me round, and although lover come back to me is good too. this song has more energy. oddly enough i like the album version better than the remixes, because they don’t seem to capture the spirit of song. they slow down the tempo, and change the sound a little too much. also, it has the crazy guitar solos, which is not needed in on off them. the… Read more »
I just love that Pete Burns quote. I think that sums up true diversity and acceptance. Anyway, thanks Paul for your awesome selection.
Pete Burns was one of the greatest pop music writers of his time.
The “Youthquake” album was solid, top to bottom, synthpop euphoria! After “…Spin Me Round” was a hit in the USA I bought the album with the hesitant hope there just might be something nearly as good as that smash hit on it. Boy was I pleasantly surprised! “My Heart Goes Bang” instantly became what is still one of my all time favorite DOA songs. The music, the melody, the lyrics, it’s sheer pop magic. Pete Burns was truly one of a kind. And what a voice!!! Thanks for this rare edit!
You’re welcome. You said everything that I felt about Pete Burns the epic “Youthquake” album 🙂
YAY! Thank you for another excellent rare 7″ Remix, which are somehow harder to find than the 12″ remixes … lol … you rock! And I love his quote … I feel like nobody really cared in the 80s, but maybe that’s just cause we were young. However, I don’t remember anyone even raising questions about Boy George, Jimmy Sommerville, etc. When they made a big deal out of Ricky Martin and George Michael in the 90s, I always wondered who even cares about that. But oh well, here we are in the 21st century and people still make an… Read more »
You said it all Martika and perfectly. Thank you for that 🙂

Than you for this unique upload Paul!
BTW Anybody knows where can I find the instrumental version of Say Hello Wave Goodbye by Soft Cell? Thanks.
Dave
you’re welcome 🙂
Oh, Paul, now we’re talking!! This is such a killer track and talk about those bangin’ beats!! This song is Hi-NRG perfection!! Thank you for this great “Wipeout Mix edit” that deserves to be played ….LOUD!! I really miss Pete Burns. No one was quite like him. I also admired the fact that he refused to be labeled. In my honest, humble opinion, I hate that so many of us have to be “defined”, “categorized”, and “called-out.” for being different and for following our own drummer. For those that need to be labeled, I do respect that for so many,… Read more »
Well put Jeff!
Totally agree Retro Houng 🙂
I never cared what his sexuality was, I just thought Pete and the band made great music. That’s all that ever mattered to me. Thanks for this upload, Paul!
You’re welcome, Mike 🙂
