R.I.P. David Bruce Cassidy (April 12, 1950 – November 21, 2017)
“The Last Kiss” was the first single taken from the seventh studio album Romance by American actor, singer, songwriter, and guitarist David Cassidy.
The song features backing vocals by George Michael.”The Last Kiss” peaked at UK #6, Ireland #9, Denmark #10 and #60 in Australia. The single was not released in the U.S..
On February 20, 2017, Cassidy announced that he was living with dementia, the condition that his mother suffered from at the end of her life. He retired from performing in early 2017 when the condition became noticeable during a performance in which he forgot lyrics and otherwise struggled.
On November 18, 2017, it was announced that Cassidy had been hospitalized suffering from liver and kidney failure, and was critically ill in a medically-induced coma. He was out of the coma two days later, but remained in critical but stable condition, with doctors hoping to keep him stable until a liver became available for transplant. Cassidy died on November 21, 2017, aged 67.

Nice tribute. It is difficult to see someone like David Cassidy as an old man dying of dementia; his youthful image forever burned into my psyche. Come on get happy….
I really have to wonder why he was not utilized more after his teen idol phase. He must not have had the greatest management. Thanks for the rip Paul.
While I can’t say that I followed David’s career after the Partridge Family ended, there is no denying the popularity that he had. But certainly as a child I loved watching the Partridge Family and there was no denying the charisma that David had. Even at that age one could tell that David was the only one who was really singing on their sings. And those songs were perfect for the younger audience that the show attracted. Thanks for sharing. Count me as one that wasn’t aware of this 12″ single. Pulled up the youtube video, I liked it and don’t know why it wasn’t released in US. To me the single would fit in with the ’85 music.

I too am quite sad about David Cassidy. It’s just a shame that so many of the artists we grew up with are leaving us way too soon. Thank you for this tribute to Mr. Cassidy, Paul. It’s also a nice tribute to George Michael’s memory as well, since he’s on backing vocals. Thank you Paul for your big heart and paying homage to the ones we have lost.

I always loved that song which features George Michael’s backing vocals. I’ve been waiting for a crystal clean rip of this Extended Mix for such a long time but I’m so sad to learn about the death of David Cassidy. Like George Michael, this is another great artist who passes away much too soon. Thanks a million Paul for this post that is also a nice tribute.

First it was Tom Petty, then it was Malcolm Young, and only a day ago, Mel Tillis…now we lost David Cassidy…….what is going on? Geez….another part of my childhood is gone. And,I don’t think David ever did the one type of album he ever wanted to do,an all out Rock album where he could show he wasn’t JUST “Keith Partridge”,ya know?
He was very talented and over looked as a musician. I think his personal life over shadowed what he could have done musically. Thanks for your comment George 🙂

‘I Think I Love You’ was one of my favorite singles from the 70s. I used to watch The Partridge Family on TV often. And I recall that I was very puzzled about the crush my older niece had on David. Didn’t know yet he was a pop idol at that time with girls screeming during his whole concert.
Nice tribute to the man who died too young.
A lot of people don’t realize that at one point his fan club had more members than Elvis or The Beatles. This song also features backing vocals by George Michael.
