BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1986
“Change of Heart” is the second single released by American singer Cyndi Lauper from her second album, True Colors on November 11, 1986. The single went gold in the US and peaked at No. 3 in the Billboard Hot 100.
As far as I know, both edits from the 7″ promo are vinyl-only mixes. Since the Shep Pettibone 7″ Edit appears on both sides of this 7″, I also included the “Single Edit” which was taken from another 7″ promo both releases have the same catalog number.
I previously posted the 12″ get it here.

Wow, as a big Cyndi fan, how did i not know about the Shep Edit version. Thank you so much Paul for always completing my collection! The single edit (as well as other single edits) was also featured on the compilation cd Twelve Deadly Cyns
In my Twelve Deadly Cyns the version for this song is the album version, I’ve never seen this 7″ edit before anywhere online or even on CD.
Mine too it has the album version.
Ah well, my mistake then lol.
I can’t believe I can finally have these version. Paul, THANK YOU! These edits are exclusive. I’ve been looking for them for YEARS. Not available on internet until this moment. If you can find the original 7″ edit/version for Whitney’s How Will I Know, the same applies, they don’t exist in a digital way.
I will see if I can locate the Whitney 7″ 🙂
WOW! WOW! WOW! I never knew there was an edit of the Pettibone mix. I’ve been on a recent Shep kick, too! Thank you, Paul.
You’re welcome, Christian 🙂
Thank you for posting these promo remixes/edits of this underrated song!
You’re welcome, Retro Hound 🙂
AMAZING! Thank you!
We need more Cyndi! YEAH!
You’re welcome, FluffyPaws 🙂
Loving this! And all things Pettibone. Been looking around for the 3:58 single edit for a long time. Definitely not an edit of Pettibone’s mix? Fabulous.
Thank you 🙂
Thanks so much dear Paul. You always surprise me with all these hidden gems.
Jeff
You’re welcome, Jeff 🙂
Another one I didn’t even know about! Thank you, as always.
You’re welcome, Dean 🙂
Thanks for this rarity. Love all her earlier releases particularly her first two albums. Thank you again and stay safe
You’re welcome, Gilbert 🙂
LOVE this song…and Cyndi… wish her Shine album would finally be issued worldwide in full! I could also go for Bring Ya To The Brink part 2!!!
I am not really familiar with her later work I only ever bought her first two albums.
Based on your tastes I am going to guess you would love both of those albums…Shine is very much in the mold of her “classic” songs, as is Bring Ya To The Brink, but it has input from tons of awesome dance music producers…
Right. Yeah. Of course. Whenever I think I know it all, have it all, heard it all Paul puts his arm around my shoulder, opens his vast Indiana Jones vault and says, “Well, my friend, let me show you THIS then…” 🙂
I´m speechless, dear Paul. Never knew these promo edits existed. AWESOME!
Thank you so much. And now I “Turn That Bass On” 😉
You’re very welcome my friend. Please turn it up louder so I can hear it as well 🙂
Never listened to either, this is a treasure. Thank you again. 🙂
You’re welcome. Osc 🙂
Wow, Paul. LOVE this! I had no idea there was a 7″ edit of the Shep Pettibone remix, which is stellar! Really loving this. THANK YOU so much!!! Cyndi’s remixes were SO good!!!
You’re welcome, MusicMan3 🙂
