BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1993
“The Shoop Shoop Song Medley” is Spanish promotional only 12″ vinyl Medley which features “The Shoop Shoop Somg”, “Love And Understanding” and “Save Up All Your Tears”. The single was released to promote the album “Love Hurts”.
“The Shoop Shoop Song” was originally cut for the soundtrack of Cher’s 1990 film Mermaids in which it played under the closing credits, and the single’s U.S. release coincided with the November release of the film. It peaked at number thirty three on the Billboard Hot 100, and number one in the United Kingdom, where it remained for five weeks.
“Love and Understanding” is a song from Cher’s twenty-first studio album, Love Hurts. Written by Diane Warren, produced by Warren & Guy Roche, it was released as the album’s lead single in 1991 for the European and North American market. The song reached #10 in the UK and #17 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
“Save Up All Your Tears” is a song written by Desmond Child and Diane Warren, and originally released by Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler. In 1991, Cher released a cover of the song as the second U.S. and third European single from her album, Love Hurts. Thank you Paul for this great medley!
These promo singles / maxis are always very interesting. I was once working in a record shop (long before CDs 🙂 ) and staff sometimes got these promos to play in a shop.
Sadly I was just a temporary staff, and I never got any 🙁
You’re welcome Vuoksenniska. I worked in a record shop too once and they did get lots of promo records I tried to get as many as I could 🙂
Thanks so much for this Paul – I had NO IDEA that such a promo item existed! It is delovely!! ~ chwee
You’re welcome Chwee enjoy it my friend 🙂
Now this is a rare record. Promos are a fascinating entity, aren’t they? Thanks Paul for sharing this with us. I’m not a big Cher fan, but I do like some of her songs and I love mixes so this is very nice.
Jeff
You’re welcome Jeff I’m not a big Cher fan either but I couldn’t pass up this gem when I bought it. Now it is a sought after Cher item 🙂
A rather strange promo, and no information who did the medley. Curious to find out how it sounds!
Enjoy Stefano!
there is another one out there i have the 45 of called the mermaids medley and has 4 or 5 songs from the soundtrack to the film, that starts and ends with shoop song.
Hi Joe yeah I have seen that one. It is from Spain also. It includes Cher and other artists.
Wow. This is pretty awesome. You have some treasures buried in the vault of yours.
Thanks Conner. This one is a pretty rare one 🙂
