“This Is My Night” is a song by Chaka Khan from the album I Feel for You. The song went to number one for one week on the Billboard dance chart in 1985. The single also peaked at #60 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #11 on the R&B chart.
A variation of the song was used by HBO as its theme music for Next On bumpers and promos from May to November 1985 (as the centerpiece of the Make the Magic Shine campaign).

Last night was my night when I saw this post. One of my favorite Chaka Khan tracks so thank you for making my night last night Dj PaulT.
YEEEEEEESSSS! The weekend can come. Well, for me it already has arrived. A great record, a great post as my 12-inch is in terrible condition. Years and years ago I bought about 50 12-Inches for a few bucks at a record fair and “This Is My Night” was included in the bulk. I immediately fell in love with it. On New Year´s Eve 2020 (which is called “Silvester” over here) I saw an edited version of Chaka Khan´s “Homecoming” concert on TV, and is was so awesome. Love her!
So thrilled that you have good memories associated with this record. I love buying records in bulk sometimes I have done it a couple of times with good and not so good results. Thank you for sharing your history with Chaka with us. 🙂
