“Supernature” is title track of French disco drummer, composer, record producer Cerrone’s 1977 album “Supernature (Cerrone III)”. “Supernature” has a sci-fi theme: it’s about the rebellion of mutant creatures — created by scientists to end starvation among mankind — against the humans. It also featured “Sweet Drums”, a three-minute-and-ten-second drum breakdown. The single crossed over to both the pop charts, where it peaked at #70, and the soul charts, where it peaked at #72. The lyrics were written by a young Lene Lovich, though she was not credited.

“Supernature” is one of Cerrone’s best known tracks. It was re-released in 1986 and remixed by David Ford. The song was also covered by Erasure in 1989 as a b-side track for the single “You Surround Me”.

The best sound of cerrone after that, but in the version of the 70’s it’s called “never let a day go by, put that there for us”.

Outstanding! One of my all time favorites! I’ve never heard of the ’86 remix. I think I like it better than the original. And the sound quality, omg! Outstanding! Thanks so much!!! =)

Hey Paul, again thank you for this mix. I don’t believe I’ve heard the full original version until now. It’s scary beautiful!! I played the original before the remix to gain some sort of perspective. I thought the remix was so well done as it kept so much of the integrity of the original version. Mr. Ford really tightened things up and gave us an awesome mix. This fits perfect into my new 2015 Halloween CD compilation.

Well, with all of the great tracks you’ve posted over the years, how can it not be great? Thank you Paul for the coolest and rare music that’s out there. A lot of the tracks haven’t been available in years and if they were available, they’re not up to the lovely standards that you have preserved them in. You have the best of taste in music my friend!!

This classic seem to be around forever and ever, and it sounds just like that, it goes on and on… 13 minutes, what a treat! Also all those remixes thru the 80′, 90′, 00′ and further on, just helped to increase the popularity of this track. Even if you dislike some, or all of the remixes, or the cover versions, they show how huge this song is in the clubs!

“Original Full Length Version” on this single appears to be a lift from the album that also includes most of the track after it. They should really have billed it as “Supernature / Sweet Drums”.

A big thank you for this one Paul.
I can confirm the Ben Liebrand remix of Supernature : credited as Ben Liebrand Old School Mix

The Original Full-Length Version (btw note the typo “orginal”) is also a hard to find version : not on the different reissues but on the Grand 12-Inches volume 1, compiled by Ben Liebrand.

That’s perfect Paul, “the Mad Vinyl Scientist.” The way you pour all of your talent and time over recorded music, just boggles my mind. This one must have taken quite a while too. Flat-out Flawless!!

Paul!! Oh Paul!!! Praise you PAUL!!!! I love how you pick these classics. And it’s so supernatural of you too because this is my favorite time of the year and I love songs that can fit within the Halloween music canon. I am so pleased that this 1986 remix is backed with the original disco version of the song. Cerrone is a genius and this song has a powerful message at its core. I loved Erasure’s version of this song too and I think Ben Liebrand did a mix to it as well, although I can’t be absolutely positive. And… Read more »
