Carol Hitchcock – Get Ready (Extended Remix) (Australia 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1987

“Get Ready” is a Motown song written by Smokey Robinson, which resulted in two hit records for the label: a U.S. No. 29 version by The Temptations in 1966, and a U.S. No. 4 version by Rare Earth in 1970.

In mid-1987 Australian singer and actress, Carol Hitchcock had a top 20 hit on the Australian Kent Music Report Singles Chart with her cover version of the song7. It also peaked in the top 60 in the United Kingdom and top 50 in New Zealand. In 1985 Hitchcock had acted in the TV series, Prisoner.

According to Hitchcock Stock Aitken Waterman recommended the track for her and she felt that “they were so wonderful to work with.”

As a bonus track, I have added the Australian only “Earth To Moonbase Mix” which was released on a separate Australia 12″.

I haven’t heard this in years, I remember it, but listening to it now, it sounds like a cross between Venus, You keep me hanging on and I feel the earth move! 😀

Thank you for all the work you do, Paul! This is such a superlative cover from the Stock Aitken Waterman hit factory! BTW, according to the credits in the Say I’m Your Number One box set, the bonus track is also know as “The Extraterrestrial Bass Mix” and was remixed by Pete Hammond, not Phil 😉

Thanks Christian…I was just wondering if the Earth To Moonbase Mix and the Extraterrestrial Bass Mix were one and the same. It looked to me as if it was called the former in Aus and the latter elsewhere including here in the UK.

I love cover versions of hit songs, especially from the ’80’s. Don’t know this one, but I am all game for “new” music. And there is something about Australian records that I love. Although I’ve never visited, I love Australia. I’m just impressed by the people and the country itself. I am thrilled to check this out. And thanks for the bonus mix too Paul!! AWESOME!!

Have a fantastic weekend Paul!!
