BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1987
“Keep Me In Mind” was the second single released from the 1987 album Sold recorded by Boy George. Radio 1 did not support this single nor did America. This single reached the UK Top 30 at No.29 also scored No.3 in Italy and No.55 in Germany and No.21 in Ireland.
George claims this song as his “most American sounding” and geared it for an American audience with its glamour video and all. Ironically, Virgin America refused to release it in the US, due to its poor chart performance overseas as well as the lack of success with “Everything I Own” in the US charts.
The b-side contains two non album tracks produced by Roy Hay. “I Pray” was originally released on the Culture Club album From Luxury To Heartache but has been remixed for this single.

“I Pray” is not a remix of the Culture Club track, but a completely new recording. It’s still subtitled “Extended Mix” on most releases for some reason – but not “Remix” on any, AFAIK. Both b-sides produced by Roy Hay (of Culture Club). Culture Club’s “I Pray” was produced by Arif Mardin.
The mistitled “I Pray (Extended Mix)” is probably explained so that “State Of Love” actually should carry that subtitle but it’s missing on most versions of the 12″. The 7″ has a shorter version.
hello thank you for this really good post, so could you up Belinda Carlisle – Circle In The Sand [CD Maxi Single], greetings from japan
Wow, never knew this existed. And what a cover! Thanks, Paul!
You’re welcome Christian 🙂
My favourite Boy George single from this era. Simple, Soulful and Sweet!
Thanks Paul!
Always wondered what that single sleeve mean though…the two of them keeping Boy George in mind during their union? LOL!
You’re welcome Ric. It is a very interesting cover 🙂
i still have this import! thanks for the mp3 version!
You’re welcome KDNA 🙂
Thanks again Paul. Do u have the Miss Me Blind (dance mix). I think it was a club promo only .
You’re welcome Omar. Are you talking abot the Miss Me Blind/It’s a Miracle mix? If you can find a Discogs link for it please let me know.
This particular mix runs in at 9.08 min. It was a Canadian exclusive. It’s a club remix of the track Miss Me Blind not the Miss Me Blind/Its A Miracle.
Hi Omar this is what I found out about the Canada 12″ if you read the notes it looks like it’s the same mix which includes “It’s A Miracle” but was misprinted on the sleeve. Both mixes are 9:08.

Love all the solo Boy George uploads this week. I remember all these singles as Everything I Own was released 1 week before I was enlisted into the army, and the following singles that were released from SOLD album were soundtrack of a relatively miserable period of my life which I would not have survived without those wonderful music! ;-}
Chwee maybe they can create some good memories now 🙂
Now – if you have the Little Ghost mixes – think I would give you my house!!!! lol
Love this run of BG 12”ers. I was gutted at the time of this release that the song wasn’t extended at all. And I was gutted I didn’t buy the 12” pic disc when I saw it – went back the next day and it was gone 🙁
I think “Little Ghost” was on the “Wether They Like It Or Not” single. I’ll have to do some looking Wolfie.
You’re correct! I wish we were neighbors, I could bring my Whether They Like It Or Not 7″ & 12″ over & you could work your magic.
That would be cool Cddmaniac 🙂
I have to admit I always found his heroin-period music (for want of a better term) to be pretty poor, maybe influenced by seeing him on TV looking so ill, but he really bounced back when he started to release music under the Jesus Loves You name – for me they were the best things he ever did. Will you be posting any of those as part of your Boy George series?
P.S. Don’t get me wrong – I appreciate your posting music even when I don’t like it 🙂
Hi Jonathan appreciate your comment 🙂 I will post some more Boy George and related material in the future 🙂
JLY was an awesome period too
I agree too! The Martyr Mantras is one of my favourite albums of ALL TIME! Love his cool club sound. The singles are brilliant, but the album tracks (Love Hurts and I Specialize In Loneliness) are even more gorgeous!
Why ‘Specialize In Loneliness’ wasn’t released as a single I do not know. Ridiculous!
I love these runs of yours. They make me feel complete and whole 🙂
Ah thank you Conner 🙂
To say ‘Radio 1 did not support this single’ is a bit of an understatement.
Until today I had absolutely no idea it even existed. 😀
Paul, I may have asked you this before, but do you have Mikey Craig’s solo effort, ‘I’m a Believer’?
Sorry Jermajesty don’t have that one at the moment.
I think I have the Mikey Craig stuff – I’ll have to check xx
Interesting… After ‘Everything I Own’ Virgin didn’t know what to do with George and big opportunities were missed. One full colour advert ran in Smash Hits for this single that was it’s total promotion. Great 12″ Picture Disc/Poster Ltd. Edition. ‘To Be Reborn’ also had one full page colour advert in Smash Hits to support it and although it had a Ltd. Edition gatefold, large shop posters to promote and many, many, live appearances from George on British TV, Virgin never pushed it enough to make the Top Ten. Had they have given it a little push it would have… Read more »
Thanks for this. Love the State Of Love Mix 🙂
GRACIAS PAUL!!!! Me regresaste a mis 17 con esta canción…. Bellísima canción!!!
BEAUTIFUL and THANKS I LOVE GEORGE’S MUSIC
You’re welcome Antonio 🙂
Awesome!!! I had dreams of you choosing this one and here it is! The rip sounds fantastic. As usual. 😉
Thank you Marty 🙂
