Just when I think I’ve finally, at fifty-five years old, heard every 80s band that ever was… you dig up a 12 inch from yet another obscure group! You’re the best!
hi paul, WOW. you’re still reading my mind. i know. ha ha. i have been buying all the blue mercedes singles i can get (luckily there aren’t too many), over the last 2 years. and of course you are posting them now. i really thought this band was abc, when i heard ‘i want to be your property’. because it was such a similar style, and the vocal delivery. their first album is pretty good too. of course, the same production skills, as ‘alphabet city’, and the ‘when smokey sing’s’ mixes. although this band, is a little different when the… Read more »
You’re welcome -1 I was thinking the same thing while working on this record that they sounded a lot like ABC pretty sure I have all of their singles so more is coming. I previously posted their debut single “I Want To Be Your Property” so maybe a new transfer we shall see. 🙂
Very glad to see you posting again! I hope all is well with you and your family. I’m not at all familiar with this song so thanks for posting it! I love hearing new (to me) stuff from this era.
You’re very welcome David I hope you like it 🙂
Thank you for featuring another PWL related single. I love Blue Mercedes. Please do Kakko – What Kind of Fool or We Should Be Dancing. Hope your mom is feeling better!
You’re welcome, Gilbert 🙂
I couldn’t remember this being a big hit so I checked and it peaked at #46, not #4, in the UK. Thanks for posting.
Thanks, Jonathan I guess Wikipedia was incorrect I appreciate you checking.
Hi Paul. Actually, it’s Wikipedia that says it peaked at #46 🙂
lol I am all kinds of messed up today I must have looked at it incorrectly 🙂
It’s cool when I discover a song I have never heard of before all because of Burning The Ground. Thank you Paul for this one. Loved their “I want to be Your Property” song so I will be relishing this one, I think. Love that Phil Harding is involved with Ian Currow. Love these guys more than the S.A.W. team, even though Pete Waterman Limited owes these guys a lot because they’ve worked on a lot of his productions.
Thank you Paul!!!
Jeff
