Berlin – No More Words/Dancing In Berlin (US 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1984

A. Front

“No More Words” is a 1984 song by Berlin and the first single off the album Love Life. It was also their first Top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 23 on May 12, 1984. The song was featured in the 1985 film Vision Quest. In the United States, the song was re-released in 1985 as a B-side to Madonna’s single, “Crazy for You”, which was also featured in the film.

The song was produced by the Italian producer Giorgio Moroder and Richie Zito. The 7″ single included the b-side Rumour Of Love. The 12″ single was paired with Dancing In Berlin and featured the Dance Remix of both songs. The mixes were made by Giorgio Moroder.

The music video saw the band re-enact a Bonnie and Clyde-style car chase and shoot-out, it was directed by Evan English & Paul Goldman, and appeared in Berlin Video 45 videocassette compilation in 1984. It received a lot of airplay in the early days of MTV.

Too bad I could not get this download. To me “No More Words” is the best song from “Berlin”. Is there a way to get the download?

What a treat! No More Words is my favourite Berlin single and this 12” mix is fantastic! I bought this 12” in 1984 and thought it was such value for money, as with Olivia’s Twist Of Fate/Livin’ In Desperate Times 12” and Wang Chung’s Dance Hall Days/Don’t Let Go. Two hot remixes for the value of one! In the 90s, I bought a CD compilation JUST for this 12” mix so that I can have a digital copy. But I think that is going to be replaced by your vinyl rip here, Paul! Your skills and experience are improving with… Read more »

Great choice! I love this mix. I saw this 12″ when it was originally released in one of the mall music stores (Musicland) and didn’t understand what a 12″ single was at the time, so I opted for the less expensive 7″ single. A week later, I went back to buy the 12″ single and it was gone. Never saw it again! Anyway, very cool and thanks for restoring this memory!!

Reading all the way down the messages in this post has me smiling 🙂

Nathan’s right, it is an art… and Paul does it so damn well 😉

Great to see two of my fave Berlin tracks in one post! My own vinyl’s of these two got played to death and sound a bit worn now… listening to your “Dancing in Berlin” right now and it sounds amazing! Really amazing!

Thanks Paul 🙂

Berlin is one of my favorite bands and these are two of their best songs. Terri’s voice is strong and I consider her in the top tier of 80s vocalists. If you’ve ever seen her in concert, no doubt you would agree. Thanks for the amazing rip 🙂

I thought I made my post earlier, and I fell asleep at my desk, then rebooted my computer before clicking the [submit comment] button. No: taking Bipolar medication does not aff-aff-aff-affect me!! Thank you DJ Paul for posting this one. I did not know that “No More Words” was from the album Love Life. I am very confused because I can hear the song “No More words, no more words and no more promises …LOVE” in my brain, but the only Berlin album I ever had was Pleasure Victim on cassette, then later Pleasure Victim on compact disc. I have… Read more »
